The Optoma ep721 is a multi-purpose video projector utilizing DLP display technology. It is one of the manufacturer’s more inexpensive models that are well-suited for presentations. It features a lightweight black-colored body weighing 4.4 pounds and measuring 10.2 x 2.8 x 7.4 inches (W x H x D). The ep721 comes with a full featured remote control with an integrated laser pointer. The projector also features a built-in 1 watt mono speaker and a Kensington lock slot. Other accessories included in the standard package are a VGA cable, lens cap and a carrying case.

The Optoma ep721 has several video inputs including an HDCP-compliant DVI terminal, VGA-in and S-Video. It also has VGA out, audio in, RS-232 and USB ports. The projector is compatible with EDTV (480p) and HDTV (576i/p, 720p, 1080i) digital signals as well as NTSC, PAL and SECAM analog video signals.

In addition to the native output resolution and aspect ratio of 800 x 600 pixels (SVGA) and 4:3, respectively, the Optoma ep721 is also capable of projecting images up to a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels (UXGA) resized and aspect ratios of 1.78:1, 5:4 and 16:9.

The ep721 uses a 180 watt lamp that has is estimated to last 2000 hours in Standard mode and up to 3000 hours in Eco Mode. The projector has a listed brightness level of 2200 ANSI lumens and a typical contrast ratio of 2000:1.

From a distance of 3.9 feet to 39.4 feet, users can expect projection image sizes from 24.6 inches to up to 302.9 inches. The ep721 also features a 40 degree (+/-) vertical keystone correction.
