Summary: As several other reviewers have pointed out, this is an exceptionally compact, well designed, and easy to use projector. From personal experience, the Optoma EP1691 is a perfect complement for laptops with 16:9 displays. In addition, this tiny model weighs just 3.2 pounds, yet is capable of pumping out nearly 2,000 lumens, and has a wide WXGA native resolution of 1280 x 768. The EP1691 also includes a full-featured remote control with laser pointer and mouse controls.
Summary: My company Purchased this & Installed this for a church and 3 others in the New Orleans Area . Optoma offers great products fro the value . 2 are still in use and I have installed the later versions in clubs and Churches .
Summary: We got the Optoma EP1691. The image was sharp and the 2500 brightness lovable. It worked great at first. My kids loved the huge Wii screen on the wall and when I needed to take it for business it was great to have the projector. First, the SVGA connector started cutting out if you didn't hold the cable in the right position. When the screen cut out you could wiggle the cable and get the picture back so rather than complaining we just lived with it.
Summary: Had this projector for months and it has worked great. Quick to come up, bulb lasts because it shuts off after not being used, even if on. Laptop has had no problems connecting to it and it has worked all the time, without any failures or issues. Great product.
Summary: Personal Experience In 2009 our company purchased 5 of the EP1691 projectors to use in our seminars. We tavel the country and the reviews for this unit were good. Problems Since that time, 3 of the projectors have major overheat malfunctions. Two of the three projectors would shut down after the first 15 minutes of use. The third would not illuminate at all. The fault lights indicate that the lamp is overheated.
Summary: Personal Experience I thought I'd take a moment to write a review of this model, which I purchased used on eBay for $300...It was in excellent condition from the seller, with on 51 hours of use on it. It looked brand-new to me... Okay, now the review: Primary use: Watching DVDs & HD-DVDs (that's right, HD-DVDs, the format that lost to Blu-Ray, but still 720p-1080i, depending on the settings). I use a Toshiba HD-A3 HD-DVD Player on 1080i.
Summary: I purchased this projector about 1 year ago. I use it mainly for playing XBOX 360. I am extremely impressed with the brightness(I have a room with no windows, but this projector is still bright enough to see decently with the room light on). The picture quality isn't quite as good as a 1080i HDTV, but at the price, it's PLENTY good. I currently have the picture in widescreen format at about 82-1/2"...
