My NEC VT460K Projector

Hi I bought the NEC VT460K from a friend, who ensured me it worked fine and well, although the wireless remote was missing, he brought it to my house, and I was very happy with it,it worked a treat, however in the last couple of days, I had to do a little fiddling about to try abd get the best picture, I am sure you are aware how difficult it is, trying to use the control panel on a projector upside down, and I believe I have pressed something, and it stated are you sure, you want to do this, and not fully being able to read what it stated, pressed yes, and since that day, I cannot turn it on at all, all I am getting is one amber light, and when I press any other button and hold it, I get two amber lights, I downloaded the instruction booklet in PDF form, but the only conclusion I come up with is that, it must have asked me do I want to lock the on projector menu buttons, and now I am having difficulties, because I have no remote, is there a way around this. Thanks
