The Mitsubishi XD300U DLP Projector

wistful37, Ebay

  • Summary: This projector provides a bright, crisp 1080i image that can fill the side of a house with any movie or video game you can route through RGB VGA, Compnent RGB and DVI (with adapter), S-Vid, or Composite. Until the color wheel explodes. I paid $400 for mine, and $250 for the bulb, which lasted two months before the type W-63 color wheel exploded. I bought an as-is and replaced the color wheel, only to have it happen again.

  • Summary: Personal Experience I've owned the XD300U 8 months. I've been pleased with the 1024x768 image used for 720 and 1080 HD sources, as well as the regular 4x3 image of non-hd sources. I project onto a 120" diagonal matte white screen. I've been only slightly bothered by whites "blooming" a bit. Projector fan sound is not a problem. Set up was simple.

  • Summary: Personal Experience My friends are envious that I got this for what they paid for a 50" LCD TV. HD cable is unreal, but I wasted money on a draper screen. It looks cool dropping out of the ceiling, but picture is just as good on the wall, and bigger. Problems Whites seem to wash out some. (skin tones on DVDs) Does anyone know how to fix that? Rainbow effect sometimes. Overall, very pleased for the $$$.

  • Summary: Personal Experience This projector is awesome. However I do have on complain. This projector does not have any digital connections, i.e. DVI or HDMI. Now in the market, there are DVD players that do 720p/1080i upconversion. Has anyone gotten around it, to get 720p/1080i using those DVD player(s) to send 1080i/720p signal on this projector? Please let me know, If you have a solution, email me @ avb_27@hotmail.com. Problems None so far.

  • Summary: Personal Experience After two months I am well pleased. Excellent picture quality and no rainbows for myself and others. Cinema mode must be used for DVD. Other modes are too bright and yield motion artifacts on bright images such as snow or clouds. HD is outstanding. Very easy setup. Reasonably quiet. I used "screen goo" for the screen with superb results. Problems There is a built in lens offset equal to about 15" at 10 feet.
