Great inexpensive projector

The Hound, avsforum.com
13 May 2013
  • Summary: I bought this projector right after they came out. At the time I was looking at a 31" HDTV for 700, 800 dollars. When the Mitsubishi’s went on sale for 700 I couldn't resist, screen size was now not an issue. My theater is my living room so brightness was a concern.
  • Pros: Picture quality, price,
  • Cons: bulb life

  • Summary: Personal Experience I bought this when it first came out some 4 years ago. I absolutely love it. I've used up 3 lamps now. I play a lot of online tourney's for online games through the 360 and pc and this has an excellent level of clarity. It's my second projector and I'd but this item again.

  • Summary: Personal Experience I got one of these units used and have had it for about 8 months now. No problems, good image, quiet to operate. Hard to find a true hi-def projector (1280x720 native resolution) with an HDMI input that a real person can actually afford and this is one.

  • Summary: Personal Experience This projector is relatively quiet. I have only used it with an up scaling HD DVD player without true HD and a HDMI cable but get a really good picture. I set it up one night in my driveway and cast the picture onto a inflatable screen (better to get a folding frame screen...

  • Summary: This was my third projector and what a difference! If you've only seen 4:3 (not widescreen) business projectors and think it can't compare to an expensive flat-panel HDTV, think again! I have the image of an 8-foot plasma in my living room!

Awesome Deal!

Anonymous, Newegg
12 March 2008
  • Summary: I have it mounted 13' back from the screen and can project just shy of an 8' wide image. This is definately the best home projector out there for the money. I can't tell any difference bewteen mine (720P) and my father's 1080P at the screensize I am using (8' wide)
  • Pros: I use this as a bigscreen TV in a basement room where it is easy to control light. The picture is brilliant, the contrast is awesome, everything looks great even with the lights on. Very little noise.
  • Cons: Wish the remote was RF instrad of infared...when mounted at the ceiling sometimes hard to get a signal...Actually have to stand up off the couch occasionaly

HD1000U

Steve S., Newegg
27 January 2008
  • Summary: I found a 96" wide 4:3 screen for a lot cheaper than the 16x9 ones online (better variety too) and just don't unroll it all the way. It's a white screen with a bunch of little glass beads stuck all over the surface, really seems to help the contrast ratio and it looks very vivid and sharp.
  • Pros: I've had this for 10 months (1500 hrs on the bulb) and I love it. Works great and I always use it in low lamp mode and keep the room very dim. All the inputs work great, but I usually just use the component ones with my 360. Occassionally I'll hook a PC up to it with a DVI to HDMI adapter cable a...
  • Cons: Regular DVD playback. Most DVD players distort the picture so it takes up the whole width of the screen, but only 1/3 the height. You have to tell the projector it's a 4:3 signal, but then you're only using half your screen. My solution was to use XBMC (need a modded xbox to run it) and upscale t...

Great Gaming Projector

Ian H., Newegg
21 December 2007
  • Summary: If you're thinking about this projector, I say go for it, as long as you have the right room for projecting. It will take some time and effort getting it set up compared to your average plug it in anywhere and play it TV, but it's well worth it.
  • Pros: I bought this projector about a month ago after doing a lot of research, and let me tell you, it is freaking awesome. Foremost, for me, it's a great gaming projector. I bought this specifically to play with an Xbox 360. My main concern was about the response time for the projector since I'd be ga...
  • Cons: Placement. Like everyone says - this projector has an offset picture. You need to mount this projector very high. I built a simple stand with two 2x4's positioned vertically about 8 inches apart and set the projector upside down on top of those. This was all set on top of a simple entertainment c...
