Summary: I bought this as a present for me....ok and for my family too....hehe but i tell you, i bought this PJ at 6th ave electronics thru amazon for only $1071 with free shipping and no tax!!!!! Cheap considering when i bought it last Dec '09 it cost $2500 on most sites, cheapest i found was $1800...
Summary: Great value for money. The LCD is very bright and the lamp can be operated at low or normal. This will give excellent lamp life. I am highly satisfied with this product and after seeing the other projectors at work, I think this is really an outstanding unit.
Pros: Bright and crisp picture even when upscaling, ceiling mounted 15' from 123" screen. Lamp set at low-normal provides a bright picture. Had no issues connecting to Panasonic Blueray player using a 25' HDMI cable. Silent operation. Also used for streaming Netflicks.
Summary: Great projector. Price is right and picture is great. Haven't even seen 1080p on it because i have an older xbox with no HDMI. That sucks but the picture is awesome even at 1080i. I've only noticed motion blur once while watching speed racer but that movie was crappy anyway. Just buy it.
Summary: Personal Experience I purchased the Mitsubishi HC5500 in April 2009 during the manufacture's rebate and am EXTREMELY HAPPY. I was originally focusing on the sub $1000 720p class, but when I came across the HC5500 for under $1500, I couldn't pass it up.
Summary: This is my first Vedio Projector ( came 4-5 days back ) . I palyed blue-ray movie . it's picture quality is better than my sony 1080 LCD 46" TV . but picture screen is 200 " or more than that . I am very satisfied with this product. and bulb time is 5000 hours in low mode !!!
Summary: After reading all the nitpicking and complaining about black levels, placement, limited zoom, brightness etc etc on the net, I was resigned to accepting this as an entry level, low priced projector that would need a dark pit of a room and a high contrast high gain screen to look acceptable. Wrong.
Summary: I bought this projector to replace a 6 year old Sharp 720p DLP projector. The primary reasons were the price, the $[...] rebate, and the excelent video processing chip (Reon-VX). The final straw that broke the camel's back was the fact the newer Blu-ray movies output 480P through the component video...
Summary: The reviewer is correct about bright rooms - I have this projector mounted to the ceiling, in a loft apartment, large windows and lots of sun mean that day-light viewing is pretty limited. But, bring on the evening and watching the 5500 with a 96" image size is an amazing event.
Summary: Picture is bright in Low lamp mode. I am not a video expert, but this unit is amazing. If it is the right price, just get it and be happy. I have owned this model for over 6 months and I'm still amazed every time I turn it on.
Summary: I did a lot of research before buying this PJ, the deciding factors for me were the Hollywood FX upscaling chip and the noise levels that are the lowest in the industry. The upscaling chip helps upscale any lower resolution image to 1080p and does it handsomely.
