Summary: Mitsubishi has done a great deal more than just hit a leading edge, low price point with 1080p. The projector is remarkable for its beautifully natural picture quality, as well as a host of features that makes it about as user friendly and easy to install as any projector out there. I'm very pleased to give the HC5000 my strongest possible recommendation, and I offer my warmest congratulations to the product managers and engineers at Mitsubishi for a job exceedingly well...
Summary: Mitsubishi did an excellent job setting defauts. I'm using just HDMI input and the picture quality is way above a flat screen TV. I paired it with a Da-Lite Cosmo Tesioned Electrol with the cinema vision material. Set up was a breeze and the lens shift is more than adequate for my set up. The projector is ceiling mounted about 13' from the screen. The sitting area is a 12' and I cannot hear the projector at all during playback.
Pros: Outstanding picture right out of the box. I used Video Essentials to fine tune but I ended up making just a few minor changes. It's also extremely quiet.
Cons: Not bright enough for a room with just a couple of windows. Black out blinds will be necessary for a great experince.
Summary: Personal Experience Awesome projector. Amazing pictures bring the 'real' cinema home. Whisper quiet and reliable in use. Deep blacks, and vibrant colours make for that real cinema experience. Highly recommended to all. Problems NO WAY!!!
Summary: Personal Experience I have not gone into anyones house yet and seen a movie room where the picture is as clear as mine, and I have been in some very expensive homes and theater rooms. I have a 110" screen and every single person that sees my picture comments on how clear it is. I have not had a problem out of the picture yet after 2 years. The price of this projector is truly worth it.
Summary: Really solid projector - i was close to getting the Panasonic but am glad i got this one instead. Great picture and easy to adjust using the remote. Even regular DVDs seem to be upgraded to HD quality. HD sports games are superior. I did not notice a black level issue -- although i use a grey screen which is supposed to enhance the blacks. I also have a pitch black viewing room.
Summary: The Mitsubishi HC5000 LCD Projector is an amazing machine. It was a seriously noticeable upgrade from my previous overhead projection system (made in 2001). In fact, it does such a great job of up-converting plain DVD sources that I have to admit to noticing little difference with most true Blu-ray movies beyond the better sound. That does not mean I think Blue-ray is not great. It is!
Summary: The initial setup with pairing the HC5000 and my Macintosh laptop (via DVI-D cable) had me perplexed for a while. The setup directions in the manual just didn't make sense to me, and perhaps part of it was because I was tired. But once I had the settings correct, all I could say was "Wow." Well, I added plenty of other comments, some that you wouldn't say to youngsters who might come across this post.
