Mitsubishi HC5000 1080p Front Projector

28 August 2008
  • Excerpt: Normally, a new performance plateau is defined by products at the highest possible prices, followed by less expensive models as more consumers fund larger manufacturing volumes. For some reason, however, this is not the case with 1080p front projectors.

Mitsubishi HC5000 Projector Review

27 June 2007
  • Summary: I was skeptical when I began this review. I am admittedly not a fan of Mitsubishi's other projectors, mostly due to the fact that they exhibit more rainbow effect (in my experience) than other models. The HC5000 3LCD projector is an amazing product.
  • Pros: VERY quiet, No screen door effect, Motorized lens shift, zoom, and focus, Backlit remote, Native 1080p/24/60 support, HDMI 1.3 with 480i support
  • Cons: Slow, noticeable, undefeatable auto-iris, Weak remote signal, HDMI didn't pass Blacker-than-black, Cumbersome menu system, Limited horizontal lens shift range

As a result, we can’t reasonably compare the HC5000BL (link to specs) against our experiences with other competing 1080p projectors.
