LG AF115 projector - Almost perfect

9 August 2011
  • Summary: LG touts the AF115 as a premium home cinema projector, and post evaluation, we have to agree. At Rs 1.6 lakhs, the AF115 does cost quite a bit, but high performing full HD projectors aren't exactly affordable, and good performing ones definitely aren't. An AV receiver is needed to handle audio - a glaring omission. That not withstanding, the AF115 will please videophile movie-buffs with deep pockets.
  • Pros: Full 1080p support and excellent handling of HD videos, SD content looks good, Lots of video settings to tinker with, Detailed image tweak settings, Well built and attractive looking important to some!, Dedicated key to manage display height via vertical lens shift, Backlit remote. Ah, finally!
  • Cons: No audio handling;separate AV receiver required if you want audio as well, Extremely glossy body smudge-magnet, Much bigger than some other 1080p projectors

LG AF115 Projector Review

Projector reviews
10 August 2010
  • Conclusion: First of all, sorry LG AF115 , no award. There is no way to decide the value proposition without having a decent idea about pricing. I’ll say that if the price is under $2000 (where I think it belongs), it would at least be seriously considered. There are several things going for the AF115. First, it’s still brighter than average in “best mode” among 1080p home projectors, and it combines those lumens with impressive color.
  • Pros: An impressive almost 700 lumens in “best” mode, makes handling larger screens practical, and dynamic, Excellent color, post calibration, especially skin tones which really do look a touch better than some very good projectors, Reasonably “good enough” black levels, though not great, Better than average placement flexibility with 1.8:1 zoom and lens shift, Dynamic iris, though not producing the blackest blacks, does offer pretty smooth operation, Iris can be put in man...
  • Cons: CFI a bit jerky at times with 24fps film content. Not recommended for movie viewing, Black level performance is “average” for a normal projector, and a ways from matching any of the ultra high contrast projectors, Documentation – pretty basic, though generally helpful, but lacks good descriptions of many features. For example, Real Cinema On, 24fps 1080 becomes 48fps. Set it Off and it uses 3:2 pull-down. It’s not explained in the manual., No anamorphic lens support, ...

LG AF 115

15 December 2009
  • Conclusion: LG’s SXRD projector, the AF 115, is extremely bright and can happily illuminate pictures of over three meters in size. The drawback: The LG only delivers a truly attractive picture once you’ve carried out extensive fine-tuning — the colors don’t look so hot in the factory setup. So if you’re crazy about huge pictures and have enough patience to adjust the device properly, the LG gets the green light.
  • Pros: Extremely bright., Superb 24p reproduction., Excellent video processing.
  • Cons: Requires manual adjustment for optimum picture., Operating noise is too loud., Bluish residual illumination., No letterbox zoom., Some color-shading when using the zoom lens.

LG AF115, proyector de altos vuelos

PC Actual
23 November 2010

13 September 2010
  • Summary: Die gute Nachricht zuerst: Der LG -Projektor AF 115 liefert extrem helle Bilder und Bildgrößen über drei Meter.

Test: LG AF115 SXRD (Heimkino-Beamer)

CHIP Online
11 August 2010
  • Conclusion: Der LG Electronics AF115 hinterlässt im Test ein ambivalentes Gefühl.
  • Cons: Durchzeichnung in dunklen Bereichen, Stromverbrauch, Kein horizontaler Lens-Shift

AF 115

16 July 2010
