Summary: I have been watching different content on this projector for a few weeks now. I paired it with a high contrast gray screen to improve blacks. The first few weeks, I watched standard def TV, HDTV, and DVD's. Obviously, the HD material looked great and even the DVD's had a nice look. I finally added a Samsung BD-P2500 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player and grabbed The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe [Blu-ray ], Speed Racer (Three-Disc Special Edition +...

Summary: My family is in agreement, This projector is awesome. It delivers everything promised. Black levels are great. Picture is bright and crisp, especially with the Sony Blu-Ray player. This projector is a technological breakthrough to reproduce the picture and contrast of film cinema. We use in a controlled theater environment and it provides stunning performance.

Summary: Personal Experience I have had the JVC DLA-HD1 model, which is very similar to the RS1, for almost two months now, and I am very satisfied. This is my first front projector, so I cannot compare it, as many of the experts can, but I can say the picture quality is excellent. I have not needed to do any adjusting, and simply use the "cinema" setting on the remote, as colors looked great right out of the box.
Summary: Personal Experience I was able to experience a side by side comparison live @ the CES show in Vegas it was paired against the sony VPL-VW30, it was not even close the JVC had very deep dark blacks and bright correct colors, and sonys blacks were dark grey and the colors had a blue tint to them compared to the JVC, JVC blew away sony in this side by side comparison, and mind you both units had 15000:1 contrast ratios. The JVC is Awesome.
