Summary: Personal Experience Random Power-Off Issues on several we have. Good Color, Remote is weak and get's weaker with age regardless of batteries. Shorter throw than most is a plus. Fast power up. Other than the above listed issues, this projector appears fairly consistent over the years. InFocus support isn't much help. Problems Randomly powers off, Remote transmitter is weak.
Summary: Purchasing these projectors was an unfortunate mistake.
Cons: Very Poor ventilation design - Easily overheats when seated on any surface. Other problems. I work for a school that purchased 8 lp290s when they were new. All 8 lasted less than 2 years before they became unfunctional. None accumulated more than 200 lamp hours in that time.
Summary: Personal Experience a fantastic, reliable projector which produces great results for the price.Highly recommended to those new to lcd projectors.if you can still find one then grab it Problems nil
Summary: Personal Experience We use at least a dozen of these LP290 InFocus projectors here. Generally the provide an easy, portable and good enough image resolution and brightness for our applications. Problems We predominanly use them for teaching in a K-12 private school, though several of our users have reported 'blue dot' problems, occasions of the projector "all of a sudden" turning itself off for "no apparent reason", despite the fact that the software on the projectors is...
Summary: Personal Experience Bought an LP290 for home. at 2000 hrs bulb life got a blue spot on screen. Took in and was told the engine was gone and would be 2800.00 to fix. Tech was great and called infocus as it was just out of warranty. Tech said infocus had put out a software upgrade to correct a heating problem that caused engines to go over time. Problems Called infocus and was told i should have upgraded the software but never received a notice from infocus.
Summary: Personal Experience Lightweight, decent image quality. Problems Infrared receiver on unit is too weak and does not pick up signals from the remote control when using the projector in a room with fluorescent lighting. InFocus knows this is a problem, but continues to ship the units with the defective receiver. I would not recommend this unit if you use fluorescent lighting in your conference rooms.
