Summary: This projector works well, but there is an issue of age. Major repair parts other than the lamp are not available from the manufacturer. I got this machine because I already have one that is good for parts. I really like the design of this projector, a built in handle makes the unit easier to move around than others. I never set the unit up for more than to show one DVD or for a short presentation and it is always on the go.
Pros: i have had this for quite a while, it is the only viewer thhaht i have, i don't have a TV at all. I use it to watch DVD movies and I have had no problems what so ever. Picture quality is great with 1/8 inch pixels on a 100 inch screen. I have never had to use the full brightness settings, the bulb saver mode is fine. Without looking at it now for an exact number... the bulb has a few hundred hours on it and still going strong.
Summary: Even though it has been 23 months since I purchased my projector, I have only used it for 137 hours. I paid over $700.00 for it and feel that $5.11 per hour is very unreasonable for a product that is advertised as an economical product. I have recently read other reviews that describe the same problems and that it is a design flaw. I would not recommend that anyone purchase an HP projector.
Pros: The projector worked fine for 23 months, only 137 hrs. of use.
Cons: After 137 hours of use it lost the color in the picture for a period of about 3 hrs after which the two warning lights began to flash in unison and the picture got so faint that it became invisible.
Summary: Personal Experience did eneyone try this buy a hdmi to vga adapter and you will get hi-def this is true because i did and wow the vp6310 gave me hi-def i mean 1080iand720p i put to my cablebox and it did what i said but i did use a vga to rgb adapter and idid get hi-def so can enyone try with vga to dvi or hdmi hi-def to see if that works because fore the price you can not go rong Problems after 75 hours the heat sinser wint talk to hp thay say this problem is commen
Summary: Personal Experience Nice looking, reasonable picture but very, very unreliable. HP support: crap - I won't be buying another HP product again, either. Problems Colour Poor from the start, after 80 hours had to be returned to HP because it wouldn't start up. After 230 hours (13 months after I bought it) colour Red turned orange: had to have colour wheel replaced.
Summary: Personal Experience This projector has been God sent. Great value for the money. We have about 400hrs on it now and have yet to experience any problems, knock on wood. Fantastic picture! My wife was angry when I dropped $700 on it until we played the first movie. Problems Doesn't balance as well as I would like but overall problem free.
Summary: Personal Experience The projector is a piece of crap. The color wheel broke within 60 days, and then HP was a royal pain in the a-- to deal with. They agreed to replace the projector, but I had to wait 30 days. I would not buy this projector, and I don't recommend buying anything from HP after this experience. Problems The color wheel broke after 60 days, and HP is a royal pain in the a-- to deal with.
Summary: Personal Experience I bought this projector in July of 2005. It is now December of 2005, and so far HP has replaced this unit 3 times, once for a bad board, the second time for a bad ballast, and and the last one was for a vertical line down the center of the screen, right out of the box. I am very dissapointed with this model, A friend of mine has the older vp6111, and has had no problems at all. Problems Bad systenm board, bad ballast, line down screen.
