Epson PowerLite W7

The PowerLite W7 is touted to provide image quality, connectivity, functionality and affordability features that are designed specifically around the needs of K-12 classrooms. It is an entry-level projector that sports USB Plug 'n Play, audio output, closed captioning, and extended lamp life up to 4,000 hours. The PowerLite W7 offers WXGA 1280 x 768 resolution (16:10 aspect ratio), 2,200 lumens color light output, 2,200 lumens white light output and is fully compatible with widescreen notebooks. Weighing in at 5.1 pounds, the reduced weight and compact designs makes it more ideal for portable use throughout schools or can be mounted to classroom ceilings.

Features

The PowerLite W7 features extended lamp life with Epson's E-TORL® lamp technology that offers more lumens (brightness) per watt, leading to increased energy efficiency and cost savings over time. With the E-TORL Technology, lamp life can last up to 4,000 hours in economy mode, saving the cost of replacement E-TORL lamps. The projector also features USB Plug 'n Play connectivity with Epson's proprietary technology which allows users to set up and run presentations quicker by eliminating the need to deal with bulky VGA cables and screws and toggling between computer keys. Other features on the PowerLite W7 include audio-out connectivity which provides the ability to connect to an external audio device; built-in closed captioning decoder makes presentations accessible to viewers with hearing impairments with no added cost, and helps meet section 508 compliance; Epson 3-chip 3LCD Technology optical engine that delivers color and detail for presentations; keystone correction with 1.2x optical zoom and ability to operate in multiple classroom settings; and A/V Mute Slide that instantly turns off the sound and images to create a quick pause in the presentation, thus conserving lamp life and energy. The projector enters A/V Mute mode when the lens cover is closed and returns to normal mode automatically and immediately upon reopening the lens cover. The PowerLite W7 is part of Epson's Brighter Futures® program, a sales and support initiative that is available for schools and is designed to help educators select and implement the products for their classrooms. The Epson PowerLite W7 is available for $749 in October 2009.
