Summary: This is a great projector as long as the bulb lasts. This model was purchased based on the recommendation of a family member who owned the same model for less than a year. Within the first 1 1/2 years of each of us owning them, the projectors blew their bulbs. The projector/bulb stated that the bulb was a 4000 hour life. Each of us only had appx. 1000 hours on the bulb.
Summary: I loved this projector. I anticipated having to replace the lamp in two years and figured that expense into my decision. I did not anticipate having to replace it within six months and did not have that in my budget. Consequently, we have been without a television for three months.
Excerpt: This projector was great until 45 min into using it a message came on the screen that the unit was heating up and we shut it off. The fan was then set to high altitude (caused a bit more noise), however it still heated up. I emailed support and the answer was vacuum the filter. I can't believe the filter would get dirty in shipment. Twice more the unit would just shut off with no warning message. Eventually called support and they are sending a new one.
Excerpt: Great projector to cut your teeth on. Bright, great picture, awesome input lag times and most of all very affordable. Just be aware of all the issues that are happening with this projector as far as mis aligned focus, auto iris errors, dust blobs and premature bulb failure. Epson has a great customer support system in place to help you through all this but in the end its up to you to decide if you want to spend all the effort.
Summary: It is an amazing projector, but get the 3 year square trade coverage. I have had mine for just over one year and have had to replace it twice. I think the quality and the flexibility of the aspect ratio is worth it but when it breaks again in year three, I don't plan to be high and dry without a projector. Customer support has been great but have $1400 on a credit card that you can afford to have on hold, for when it breaks.
Summary: 10/26/12: I took receipt of this projector on 9/28/12. Setup was easy thanks to the lens shift and the picture was beautiful, even with standard definition movies from iTunes. The projector was fairly quiet (though I do watch with wireless headphones since I have young children). Within 2 weeks, the projector showed an auto iris error warning. Other reviewers have had a similar issue. Like others, I powered it down and restarted the projector.
Summary: Replaced an Optoma with the Epson. Was very happy with it and the high lumens, but after only 6 months with limited usage, developed an auto iris error. Googled the problem and found out it is farily common problem. On the plus side, Epson sent a new projector immediately, no questions asked.
Summary: I love this projector for the first 3000 hours. Then, it started to have technical difficulties. Lamp light flashing red every half second; so i replaced the lamp. After a week the bulb failed. The bulb was OEM; so I decided to try a bulb furnished by best buy. This lamp didn't work at all.
Excerpt: Very nice projector...........good color and sharpness........easy installation problem with fast moving objects.. ie sports programming........lamp went out after 8 months, approx. 1500 hours...........Epson replaced under warranty.............
