Great product, great price for as-is model.

martin_entertainment, Ebay

  • Summary: Have a fully functional unit and so this one as-is. Even if it isn't able to be made to work by replacing the lamp, it is still worth more than I paid for it by selling parts. Remote will bring over $50 alone. This projector is great if you are constantly turning it on and off unlike other projectors that need a good cool down period before lamp is restriked.

Great product for the price.

  • Summary: I own a small business and have perviously purchased 3 epson S-5 projectors and haven't had any problems over the past two years. They're inexpensive, with great quality for the price and we have been more than satisfied. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a LCD projector that provides dependability, and quality at a great price.

Great Economical Solution

cbarrondj, Ebay
11 August 2010
  • Summary: If you are looking for an economical solution to your LCD projection needs the Epson S5 LCD Projector is it. (Prior to this review I have purchased 3) The unit is light-weight and powerful, but perhaps the most valuable features are the keystone adjustment and the basic user friendly controls. The S5 is a safe purchase for anyone needing simple projection needs.

Could be brighter and sharper

lienad1995, Ebay
5 May 2009
  • Summary: This is a good, lightweight device, easy to carry around and to set up. I was expecting a brighter, sharper image, but it certainly is adequate to the classroom uses to which I put it. As a substitute for an lcd or plasma display for watching dvd's in your home, it might be a good idea to get a real projection screen.

Epson PowerLite S5

beetle63, Ebay
17 March 2009
  • Summary: Likes - Inexpensive, lightweight, simple and flexible. Dislikes - No optical zoom and low native resolution. The PowerLite S5 is a great projector and can be purchased for about half the retail price. It is lightweight and easy to transport, and has an instant off feature so you can pack it away immediately after shutting it down. It has composite video, S-video, and VGA inputs with automatic source seek. Just plug it up to a computer, DVD, or VCR and you're projectin'.

User Review

Steve, Projector Central
22 July 2008
  • Summary: Personal Experience this is one of the easiest projectors to set up and use that i have ever encountered. the instant on/off feature is one of its qualities. by following the quick set-up chart ( another good quality) even an inexperienced user can be up and running in about 10 minutes. I would recommend this projector for home purchase as well as office.

pro`s and con`s

turke54, Ciao
5 September 2008
  • Excerpt: my friend owns one and its a good buy for a cheap slighlty cinema experiance but you should avoid if usin in a small room as it generates a lot of heat an has a constant humming to it that makes you want to throw it out the window! so the pro`s are 1) the screen size can be changed to fit your wall/sreen or what ever up to something stupid like 90" i belive.
  • Pros: big screen size
  • Cons: not hd so screen quality slighty lacking

An opportunity to get close to action of the cinema

spencer_hawken, Dooyoo
3 August 2008
  • Excerpt: I'm a bit weird, not much of a surprise I guess. One of my big vices is 8mm and 16mm movies with a big old fashioned movie projector. A few years ago a combination of a very expensive stereo projector and my other half's backside bought my happy viewing to an end. Forced to sell my now broken projector (replacing the damage was expensive to say the least) my dreams of home projection movies came to an end.
