Summary: This was what I had been looking for. I didn't want to pay the price for new projector however for a used item it was almost as costly as a new one. The quality of the used projector was nice and performance is beyond my expectations.
Summary: Personal Experience I built a 25sqmeter Home Theater with a 120in fixed screen 1.1 gain. I have the projector since Oct 2010 with no issues neither any maintenance needed so far. The projector is ceiling mounted and I use a Sony Blue Ray disc player and a HD satellite box. I am very happy indeed with the image quality of the projector. I bought it directly from Dell and this was a plus as I live in Brazil, we do not have other projector brands selling HD projectors.
Summary: Personal Experience It's a very robust and high reliability projector. I have used it for 3 years now as my home-movie theatre and it does the job very well. Problems 3D is indeed a pain - and Dell are totally in the dark as to how this can be setup. I have seen it work on a similar projector but have not succeded yet my self in getting 3D movie / images projected. I'm using the NVIDIA 3D Vision Glasses Kit with a NVIDIA 760 GT 2Gb gfx-card.
Summary: Personal Experience This does a great job with 3D, after figuring out how to set it up. I think the color is very good and image quality is great. I have a Sharp X-F212 and it is rated at 2100 lums. The 1601HD is not too much brighter (3500 lums). Dell Support was great (with one caveat 3D setup). Had a spot on the first one, and Dell was very quick to replace it. Problems Setting up 3D was a pain. Dell support is no help. They keep telling me it was my graphics card.
Summary: Purchased this to use with my new Dell XPS laptop. The laptop doesn't have VGA output, so I purchased an adaptor cord to connect the Micro Display Port on the laptop to the VGA input on the projector (Apple brand, but Best Buy also carries another, slightly cheaper brand). No problems with displaying a Power Point show including both slides and video made on Windows Movie Maker.
Summary: First impressions out of the box are that this looks like a quality piece of kit. It has a pleasantly sturdy look and feel that immediately fills you with confidence. This is built to last. You also notice the number of connectivity options available, including USB, HDMI and even a microphone port. Personally I have used this for presentations at work.
Summary: This was acquired for use mainly at a local social club, for us to do race nights and film accompaniments for cheese & wine do's. Although still early days, this looks like being an excellent choice. I feed it via a Panasonic Blu-Ray player through an HDMI lead and project on to an 80" tripod-mounted white screen. The picture is very bright so that we don't need to draw the blinds.
