Summary: BenQ makes decent projectors and we have been happy with our BenQ with the exception of the reliability. Don't think that I will purchase another one. We have a W5000 which is the predecessor of the W7000 that is just over 4 years old. The system board has been replaced once already after the warranty period (at a cost of about $1,000) and has failed again. BenQ quoted us $200 to repair it the second time, but then alerted us that it cannot be fixed.
Nathan M. Rose "Movie Guy from FlickDirect", Amazon
29 April 2013
Summary: While the initial product is great and works well for a "in house home theater" the firmware itself is a bit troublesome and actually has to be sent to the company to upgrade rather than just downloading it. It is a good starter product from BenQ, but I would wait a couple of years until they have perfected the techonology.
Summary: I bought my projecter (BenQ W6000) from Amazon in September of 2010. It worked fine the first year but before the warranty was up, I had to send it back into the manufacturer to fix the Dynamic Black feature. The image was very dark and was only usable if I turned the Dynamic Black feature off. About 1 year later (September 2012), it started again. Since it wasn't under manufacturer warranty, I turned the feature off.
Summary: Had this projector for about a month and do like it but it has a couple of small "annoyances". I use it with HD Cable, PS3 and Sony bdps590 Blu ray player. Previously had Optoma HD65, Epson 8350 in that order. This is the first 3D projector Ive had and the 3D (TrueDepth DLPLink Rechargeable 3D glasses are excellent and the company is great to deal with) is great but more a gimmic than a must have for me.
Summary: This projector is great for 3D. Class leading. But for 2d Movie viewing is below average. Even using a very high quality projector screen. Would not recommend. Purchased this projector without knowing how bad it was on 2d. Now I only use it for 3D. Have a second projector to watch 2D Movies.
Pros: Great 3d Image (bright)
Cons: Price: There are better all around projectors for about 500-600 less
Weak 2d Image: Contrast ratio advertised is over inflated. It is below average.
Blacks are gray
Too Bright on 3d Mode. for room with light colored walls
Summary: My projector is currently on the mail on its way to BenQ for repair. I've heard they are good with repairs/replacements but what happens after the 1 year warranty? The IRIS issue has been reported to happen on replacement units as well. I thought I getting an awesome deal for the price/features... but now that I know the whole story, I would not recommend. If you have the money to buy it, I would save a few more and go with a more reliable projector.
Pros: Great 3D Image with zero cross talk
Very Bright, great to watch sports with light on.
Cons: IRIS Problems. As reported by W7000 owners on projector central forum, the image will go very dark and/or the IRIS will close and you will get no image. You have to turn the power off and pray it open when you power ON, if it doesn't you will have to turn OFF again. Issue occurs randomly.
So bright it will light up your entire basement if your room has white walls/ceilings/carpet and your blacks will be very washed.
