Summary: We have four of these and use them for outdoor projection in a variety of environments - eg onto buildings, landmarks, streets etc. My review is specifically in relation to that application - we don't use these for home-theatre at close range as the DLP colour-flash (rainbow effect) would be way too...
Summary: We purchased this projector because the one we have been using for years is cost prohibited for replacing the bulbs. We were able to purchase this one (the top recommended from team) for less and it has more brightness and power. The replacement lamps are available and not cost prohibitive.
Summary: Several years ago I bought the only video projector I could afford: a 1500 lumens one at about $1500. I always have wanted a brighter one. Now I could afford one. I purchased the BenQ 4000 lumens projector. I am very pleased. It is just as bright as I had hoped! And it is easy to run. I love it.
Summary: Personal Experience We bought a couple of these for VJing, especially outdoor projection, after returning some Sanyo XU-115's that we were very unhappy with. The BenQ SP-820's are amazingly good for the price. Bright, clear image, great for carrying around, very quick to cool down.
Summary: Personal Experience There is not better deal on the market for a portable presentation projector. Has way more features than you would expect on a projector this price. Has a few cool features. 1. Switching power supply works with 110v or 220v. 2.
