Summary: Personal Experience I have had nothing but trouble with this projector. In fact, in all of my years purchasing and selling AV equipment I have never encountered something this bad. I have just blown out my 4th bulb, with none of them lasting longer than 700 hours in economy mode. After numerous problems, Benq replaced my projector with the latest firmware and upgrades available. All was well for about 700 hours and the bulb has gone out once again.
Summary: Personal Experience The first thing I have to say is: Don't buy one! I, along with many other users have had nothing but problems with this projector. Which is too bad, because the picture quality is really quite good for the price, and the features are great. Of course the reliability is somewhere between lousy and none. My sordid affair: I purchased the PE7700 almost 2 years ago, and after a couple hundred hours my bulb blew.
Summary: Personal Experience In less than a year I have had to send this system back to company twice. They did a nice job the first time in terms of pick-up, repair, and drop off, but i have had projectors for the last 6 years, and this one is a lemon. Problems first time they said it was a lamp issue and replaced it. Not sure what the issue is the second time, but I do not want the system back.
Summary: Personal Experience I loved my PE7700. Then my bulb blew up at 400hrs. I have contacted Benq and they refuse to offer any help because I didn't keep my receipt from June 2005. Please beware that bulbs cost $400. And there is no guarantee how long new bulbs will last as the unit has a firmware problem. Where does that leave me??? Why do I write? Just to tell potential buyers to stay away from this particular unit and company.
Summary: Personal Experience BULP BLOWS AFTER aprox. 100 hours BECAUSE of general firmware-error! Problems This projector blows the bulp because it has a fundmental error in the firmware, that BenQ will not make official. After blowing two lamp after 100 hours each, I had the entire "motherboard" replaced by BenQ - however I really had to put pressure on BenQ before they admitted the error. I guess it will be pretty expensive for them if all the owners find out.
Summary: Problems My bulb burnt out after only 60-70 hours on it. I sent the projector to BenQ for warranty repairs but still have not recieved the projector back. It will be a month by the time I get it back. Beware of the bulb issue. If you have purchased the unit already, cross your fingers.
Summary: Personal Experience its pretty sad tou are affraid to watch because your bulb might blow. im saving mine for football. can you say class action lawsuit these projectors are pieces of s#$% .it cant just be bad bulbs. 3500 dollors projector ,screen, speakers, cabels.and im scared to turn it on.............. Problems BULBS,BULBS,BULBS.
