Summary: I bought this projector some time ago. It worked great for the first few months then it started to show a thick white line down the center of the picture. Never bothered to try to get it fixed. Note that the picture isn't all that bright so you will have to be in a room with dim to no light for the best results. It can use a usb stick so that was great. The picture was sharp and clear and it's ability to correct the projection for wall colour was good.
Summary: I purchased this projector because of it's size and fun factor. It's a really cool idea. However, in reality, I didn't find the unit to be bright enough. If all you desire is tv sized images in a nicely darkened room, then it was bright enough. If you desire over 55 inch images in a poorly dimmed room, then it's not adequate. I wanted to make a slide show at a wedding. I thought it would be awesome to set a projector on a tripod and project at a portable screen.
Summary: I bought this to use for presentations and as a 'monitor' on my mac mini. Finally got around to hooking it up, used it for about 40 or 50 hours and the lamp died. May just be a fluke, but that was my experience. Out of warranty (my fault for waiting). Resolution was decent, light quality pretty good, setup very easy.
Summary: They say there's a dock you can buy from BenQ that will permit you to connect your IPod to this projector but an exhaustive search of the BenQ website, and a general Google search failed to uncover the existence of this mythical device. It doesn't actually exist apparently. Otherwise a cool little projector.
Summary: The BenQ Joybee is a neat and portable projector that's big on features. I love the size and amount of flexibility it offers as far as connections go. It's easy to setup and I can even play media files from a thumb drive. The GUI is intuitive - you can learn to use it completely in a short amount of time. The only con I can think of is the software that comes with the unit to convert media files.
