Summary: The unit we bought is very to the description. However one item about the lamp residual life indeed is at the end of its useful phase. But we did not expect that it is the end of its life after several hours of its use. We were told it passed the warranty period. Now we have to bought a new lamp, almost cost the same as the unit. I would never recommend to get the used projector and hope for a lucky strike.
Summary: Personal Experience SO far we watched about 50 movies using this projector. Most of them viewed indoors on a pull down screen with a hand full seen outside on a 8ft by 12 ft screen. It has performed well at both venues. I would recommend this acer model as a definite buy for an entry level projector.
Summary: Personal Experience Only just purchased this projector two months ago, after comparing the other models in this category and specifications the Acer was one of the best and cheapest and since It was going to be my first experience I decided to take a chance with it and see if I could get comfortable with a projected image as compared to an LCD or plasma TV for my home theatre, my wife was not to keen as she was imagining a picture quality with hazy or screen door like...
Summary: Personal Experience Great buy for the money. Quality of the picture using the DVI is great, and the brightness exceeded my expectations. The bulb is much cheaper than most other projectors. It is reliable too.
Summary: Personal Experience This is my first projector, so other than the conference rooms at work, I have little to which to compare it. I am, however, very happy with my purchase. I've logged about 130 hours on the bulb now and I'm just overjoyed every time the thing turns on. I'm using it with a home-built HTPC for TV, DVD, and other video, as well as a host of other less important functions.
Summary: I recently bought the Acer PD100, and then they raised the price on that one and are offering a deal on this upgraded version. The only difference appears to be slightly better brightness and DVI inputs on this one. So based on my experience with the PD100, this is a decent 800X600 projector that will give you good brightness for DVDs and games at 480p. I bought my acer after agonizing over whether I was ready to go HD.
