Summary: White dots on screen after 550 hours. Was a great projector and great value until this happened. Research says it's bad mirrors on the DLP chip. $200 or so to repair, not really worth it. Will check on warranty, but I think I'm outside.
Summary: bought the same projector(REFURBISHED) about a month ago from acer depot. first time i turned it on and millions of white dots. careful of the white dot syndrome. dead pixels, an acer and optoma sickness. dont buy acer.sitting now with a dud machine, because the dlp chip and shipping will cost more than the projector..please dont buy acer update..the acer service support is absolutely rubbish..
Summary: Acer impresses me once again. This thing is very modern with a user friendly interface and every feature you could need. I love how the image auto-adjusts its shape based on the angle and tilt. Maybe that's standard for most projectors, but this is my first one and I thought it was cool. Image quality is great even in ambient lighting. No issues with this at all.
Summary: I bought this projector in January of 2011. Great projector while it worked. Only negative was that there was no HDMI connection. Just this past month I started getting white pixels. It started with a couple and has rapidly increased to 25 within a week. My screen is starting to look like a starry night sky. Unfortunately, the warranty expired after a year so I can't send it back.
Excellent Projector - Bright, Vivid, Cool, and Quiet
21 October 2011
Summary: I've been using DLP LCD projectors for about 12 years as a leader of an educational organization. I am also a tech snob and tend to find flaws in things that others don't notice. I used the projector for 4 hours last night - watching movies to test it. The Acer X1230PS produced bright, crisp, color-accurate (matched colors on laptop perfectly), images with no noticeable distortion.
Summary: this is the second one I bought for the same model. it is perfect for office conference room to discuss technical issues, etc. but if you need to carry it around in customer sites, you may need a small and light one.
Summary: The X1230PK was the predecessor to the PS and rated at 200 less ANSI units but is still amazingly bright. The contrast ratio presents a picture so brilliant that it fools the brain into seeing black where, in fact, there is none. Normal ambient lighting (Not directly on the screen) can be left on and the picture does not wash out. I also purchased a Kworld External Model SA295-Q DE tuner and now have a home entertainment center in my "cave" ready for football season. ...
Summary: I just bought this projector. I was a bit skeptical about it, because of its low price. Believe me I searched a lot of brands. I even downloaded their manuals to read every single specification. Well, at the end of all this research. I decided to buy this one. Now that it is already installed on my video room. I'm pretty impressed by the quality and the crystal clear image. You have to have your room almost dark, to really appreciate its great image.
Summary: This device lasted about a year. It developed the "white spots" other reviewers have mentioned. Fortunately, I had purchased a Squaretrade warranty. After receiving the projector, they determined it was unrepairable and gave me my money back. So don't buy this projector but do buy a Squaretrade warranty! _______________________________ Initial 5 Star Review I never thought I would recommend an Acre brand projector but this model is awesome.
