Summary: Personal Experience Had this projector for 2 years and have had nothing but trouble with it. I am about to have to send back again for overheating issue. I should have returned when it had its first overheating issue. Now I am stuck with this piece of crap. Do not recommend this model and after working with the tech support do not recommend Acer products at all.
Summary: Personal Experience This projector is awesome! Compared to the models around when this was released it blows them out of the water. The picture is extremely bright, 2000:1 contrast ratio really shines. I also own an Epson projector for which I paid 3x as much with more features, it is extremely dim in comparison to the Acer. Excellent presentation Projector as well, it's light, portable, and the remote control has a built in laser pointer which is very cool.
Summary: Personal Experience I've owned this for a year now and other than its overheating issue, it's been a pretty good budget home theater projector. Image is good for the price. Features suffice for my needs. Construction is good. Ease of use is great (my very young children know how to operate it). Reliability has been not-so-great. YMMV. Overall I think it's a good value for the amount paid. Problems Overheating.
Summary: Personal Experience Pros: VERY quiet operation. Cools down quickly. The machine is VERY lightweight, and seems as well built as any in this price range. The company didn't skimp on the included cords, and a component-to-VGA adapter. Each cord even comes with a little velcro strap to keep them tidy. Problems Cons: RAINBOWS GALORE! If you are sensitive to them, don't buy this one- I suspect that it has a slow color wheel.
Summary: Personal Experience I use the Acer in the classroom and it works very well. Any movies I show on it seem clear and bright. The color quality looks better than the laptop lcd. This is the only projector I have owned so I nothing to compare it to. It has served me well for the last year. Problems It does get a bit hot, but that's to be expected.
Summary: Personal Experience I purchased this because of the price and it's got to be the worst projector on the market. The color accuracy is very poor. The yellows look brown, the reds look orange. Basically, all of the colors look different than they do on my laptop. The unit also runs very hot. The thermals on this unit are very poor. The image was much softer than other projectors that I own. When I called customer support, they were unhelpful. Lesson to be learned.
Summary: Personal Experience I took a chance on this Acer for use as a home video projector, BIG mistake! After using SL1U & SL2U Mitsubishi's for three years (which were good), I wanted something brighter, quieter, and with better contrast. The Acer was very quiet and bright with good contrast. The problem was video generation (specially with motion). Static images were usually decent, but motion was horrid! It looked like CG gone VERY bad!
Summary: Personal Experience The PD100 is a very basic low resolution projector. Inputs are limited, brightness ok and color is adequate for Powerpoint presentations. I do not recommend for video display since colors are not accurate. The projector build quality seems very cheap which is reflected by the price paid. This is a concern since the projector is backed by only a one year warranty and 90 day lamp warranty.
