well worth it

Eddie H., Newegg
30 April 2013
  • Summary: could have spent twice as much for a better name brand version of the same thing. happy with this one.
  • Pros: great price, color, sharpness. did a lot of research before I purchased. been using it for 2 years now and has been great. its in a basement with good lighting for a projector but I couldn't be happier with it.
  • Cons: none

DO NOT BUY THIS

LSB, Amazon
28 February 2013
  • Summary: I have owned this projector for a year now. Using it an hour or two a day on average, it required a new bulb for $120 within the first 8 months. Any bulb replacement is no where near the original bulb quality, and acer does not sell just the bulbs.

Great projector, when it works

Michael, Amazon
17 May 2012
  • Summary: This is a review that I wrote for the H7530D, I am assuming that these are very similar models and thought this review may also be applicable to the H7531D. I have owned this projector for around a year, and for the first eight months I was very happy with it.

Great

Daniel S., Newegg
20 April 2012
  • Pros: Contrast is great. Much less noise than the 720p model (especially in eco mode) using a true 24 fs makes a big difference in action movies
  • Cons: Would have preferred it go to 120 Hz so I at least had the option of 3D.

DLP for the win ... or not?

Andrei B., Newegg
27 January 2012
  • Summary: I am on the whole quite satisfied with the projector's performance.
  • Pros: Great stuff for the price. Automatic keystone cuts down on a lot of fiddling.
  • Cons: I was hoping for blacks that could go far lower than LCD. While it seems DLP is quite a bit better than LCD, it's not like "wow, amazing, problem solved." It is better, but not a whole lot better. Which is somewhat of a bummer considering the high setup effort required for a projective system ver...

Acer H7531D

Cody R., Newegg
25 January 2012
  • Pros: Great projector for the price. I have it ceiling mounted displaying on an 82" screen. I keep it running in eco mode and almost prefer the image quality this way. Much quieter too but overall, its not very loud. Use it for gaming, movies, and as an additional monitor. Games like Skyrim and Battlef...
  • Cons: I was skeptical about getting such a low end (HD 1080p) DLP projector. Low end to the effect of quality vs price. "Rainbow effect" seems like a hit or miss with some people. Unfortunately I'm able to see it and its definitely noticeable with this projector. Luckily, you can cut back on on it quit...

Good picture, no complaints so far

Scott V., Newegg
16 January 2012
  • Summary: I'm very happy with the picture I got for the price, and am currently using it with a Pioneer VSX-921K receiver, which I also recommend if you are building a home theater.
  • Pros: Very nice picture, even in the bulb saving mode (although I have it in a room with pretty good light control). I've used it for about 300 hours of viewing (as indicated by the bulb timer in the projector menu) and haven't had any issues so far. Currently have it on an 80" screen and blu-ray movie...
  • Cons: Colors are visibly off quite a bit in pretty much every preset mode on my white da-lite screen (even though it allows you to choose from multiple screen colors). It was fairly easy to calibrate to where it looks correct by manually adjusting levels, but if you like to manually adjust multiple mod...
