Summary: I recently upgrade my home computers all to windows 7. It was a big mistake because I lost my networking with all the computer. For some reason windows 7 requires all the computer to have ipv-6 on the network computer. I can't get ipv6 to work so I can't network and can't print from other computer. I found this printer has its own ip address and comes network ready. This solved my problem. He works great. It is small and quiet. It is the best printer I've ever owned.
Summary: This printer has been here for about a month, so this review is about performance "out of the box". I looked all over the internet for a good small laser printer. The reviews were for the ML-2851ND. That printer seems to have been replaced with this one. I took the chance, hoping that the latest model was at least as good. So far, it has exceeded my expectations. This printer can print on both sides of the paper.
Summary: I used to have an HP LaserJet 4100 in a mixed PC/Mac environment. It was a nice machine as long as the network connection was working. The last time it stopped working, I wasn't able to use it except with USB cable. Bad news. I replaced it with this Samsung. The software installed without issues and I'm now able to print again from my PC and Mac. Print quality is excellent as is the speed.
Summary: For the money, this printer has been awesome. I love everything about it, the price, it's simplicity, it's reliability. I print approximately 40 pages a day for a home business I run and it has never let me down. At the time of purchase I bought an extra ink cartridge because the description stated that the cartridge that came with it would print approximately 2500 pages. The new cartridge would print 5000. It was definately worth purchasing the extra cartridge.
Summary: Replaced my USB HP 1300 with this printer. It is on a mixed mac and Windows XP network. Extremely easy to setup. Plug into ethernet port and Bonjour instantly recognized and set up on mac via Printer system preferences, Install disc adds nice features on the mac such as IP address, toner level etc., very convenient. Also very easy to add to windows XP machines . Samsung did a great job of adding features that are Mac OS X compatible.
Summary: My first ML-2855ND printer was DOA because the interface circuits on the board were bad. This made it impossible to set up. I called Samsung tech support because this problem is very unusual (in 25 years working with computers it was a first to have something that seemed to function but would not set up). The printer comes with both usb and network ports and I tried both. They did a quick phone analysis and determined that they would "fix" it for the paltry sum of $169.
Summary: I bought this for it's Mac & Win compatibility, easy connectivity, compact size, throughput speed, positive reviews, and a great deal price. I'm using this in a home office setting as a complement to a (more expensive to operate) HP all-in-one color inkjet scanner/copier/printer. This combination is working *very* well for me. I use multiple computers (both Mac and Win) on a wireless network (Airport).
Summary: I bought this printer to produce multi copies for teaching purposes. It is quick, quiet and produces clear crisp copies. Make sure that you have purchased an additional toner cartridge if you need to do lots of printing. The included starter cartridge prints maybe 1,000-1,500 copies. This practice of putting "sub-standard toner cartridges" in new machines is a sneaky way of CHEATING consumers.
