Great Printer

Al "oldbot", Amazon
10 February 2011
  • Summary: This printer has been here for about a month, so this review is about performance "out of the box". I looked all over the internet for a good small laser printer. The reviews were for the ML-2851ND. That printer seems to have been replaced with this one.

Awesome for the Money

Amazon Customer, Amazon
28 December 2010
  • Summary: For the money, this printer has been awesome. I love everything about it, the price, it's simplicity, it's reliability. I print approximately 40 pages a day for a home business I run and it has never let me down.

Great Monochromatic Laser Printer

Kye "Kye", Amazon
20 September 2010
  • Summary: I bought this printer to produce multi copies for teaching purposes. It is quick, quiet and produces clear crisp copies. Make sure that you have purchased an additional toner cartridge if you need to do lots of printing. The included starter cartridge prints maybe 1,000-1,500 copies.

Samsung tech support is a ripoff

PappyLove "Pappy", Amazon
5 September 2010
  • Summary: My first ML-2855ND printer was DOA because the interface circuits on the board were bad. This made it impossible to set up. I called Samsung tech support because this problem is very unusual (in 25 years working with computers it was a first to have something that seemed to function but would not...

Samsung shocked me

Swiss O., Newegg
13 August 2010
  • Summary: I reordered the printer, based on the many positive reviews both here and on the Net. But this time I bought the Newegg warranty plan. The bad review is for Samsung (shame on them), not the printer or Newegg.
  • Pros: Newegg customer service came thru for me. NOTE: The bad rating is for Samsung not the printer.
  • Cons: I have several Samsung products and am impressed with their service. However with this printer Samsung was a real disappointment. Samsung Tech Support wanted to charge me $169 to help me even though I just received the printer. The printer was DOA (problem was with the external interface circuits...

Good printer so far

Robert Y., Newegg
22 July 2010
  • Summary: I got online with NewEgg support to see if I should open the box or just do a claim. They said to go ahead and open it and if the printer is damaged to contact them back. Luckily inside everything was good and I was able to set everthing up easily enough.
  • Pros: My printer DHCP'd with no problems. Based on other reviews here I did not bother with the driver CD. I downloaded drivers directly from Samsung. The drivers searched the network, found the printer and set everything up. The printer printed perfectly so far and really only took about 2 minutes per...
  • Cons: My box was left propped against the front door "left with woman", nobody was home so I guess the driver was seeing things. The box was damaged on the bottom and side, the bottom was only held together with a small sliver of tape that had not broken.

Excellent monochrome at low price

Anonymous, Newegg
8 July 2010
  • Summary: I HIGHLY recommend the PostScript driver for better quality and duplex support. The generic PostScript driver in any OS I've tested works fine but duplex isn't supported with generic drivers. It works well for Windows 7 32/64 bit.
  • Pros: The drivers have had the bugs worked out if you go to the website. A LOT better than the ML-2851 because the LCD makes initial setup MUCH easier (you can enter an IP and settings from the control panel on the unit!) and the web interface is at the very least good. Additional memory can be added e...
  • Cons: Additional memory is HARD to find and still it took several tries to get the right DIMM. You should think about the DIMM if you're going to pound out complex page-layout style PDFs frequently as it will double your speed. Standard memory is fine for most human users. Auto setup doesn't work too w...

Great small office printer

Anonymous, Newegg
18 February 2010
  • Summary: We also bought a SCX-4828FN multi-function at the same time. It uses the same toner, and has performed well too.
  • Pros: I replaced a very old and large laser with this model in July 2009. We have printed about 30K pages on it since (38-40K pages/year), which is much higher than the users originally projected. Fortunately, the cost per copy is very good - one of the best in this printer class that I found at the ti...
  • Cons: None for us.

Love this printer

Sleepy in Seattle, Amazon
31 December 2009
  • Summary: I used to have an HP LaserJet 4100 in a mixed PC/Mac environment. It was a nice machine as long as the network connection was working. The last time it stopped working, I wasn't able to use it except with USB cable. Bad news. I replaced it with this Samsung.
