"Got what we paid for. Samsung let us down this time."

PATTAPPAT, CNET
19 December 2011
  • Pros: When it's not jammed up, it works well. When I'm printing checks, sometimes they don't come out crooked from the manual feeder.
  • Cons: manual paper feed always feeds crooked Flimsy Jams paper repeatedly

works fine, but low heat after 1 year

W. YANHAO "Max", Amazon
19 June 2011
  • Summary: It has been working fine for one year with around 1000 sheets printed (duplex, toner saver mode). Recently it displays the low heat error, mostly caused by a broken fuser. The warranty is one year... so I have to find a new printer. I think Samsung produces high-quality LCD monitors, but this does not extend to their printers.

Worked good for awhile, but no longer.

Brian R. Thomas, Amazon
25 May 2011
  • Summary: Short and sweet: Purchased in January of 2010 and worked great for awhile. Now, 16 months later, it's dead and no longer under the 1-year warranty. Samsung support was great and responsive, which is what prevents this review from being 1 star, but I bought a laser printer because they're supposed to be more reliable than inkjet. I was a little nervous buying something that's not a HP, but good reviews had me thinking this would be a good printer for a good price.

Seemed like a good purchase at first...

M. Bean, Amazon
2 April 2011
  • Summary: We bought this printer to replace our aging toner-hungry jam-prone HP. Like many other users here on Amazon and on the Samsung support pages, we had a great experience at first. Easy setup, good quality, and fast printing. As expected, after about a month the starter cartridge ran out of toner. After replacing it with the proper Samsung-branded cartridge, we've had similar problems to other users.

Deficient print quality - returned

Marie, pcRUSH.com
30 November 2010
  • Summary: Comments about Samsung ML-2851ND Laser Printer: Print quality on this ML-2851ND is deficient & inappropriate for home office use. My old HP LaserJet printer from 1994 and the Samsung ML-2250 laser printer both provide better print quality. Returned for refund.
  • Pros: Easy Setup, Fast Print Time
  • Cons: Flimsy Construction, Poor print quality

"Good While It Lasted!"

cbtalbot, CNET
30 March 2010
  • Pros: Performed well, good quality print.
  • Cons: Only lasted 14 months (2 months more than guarantee), only printed 2532 pages, before it overheated and produced black sheets of paper.

Okay for straightforward printing

Nico1908 "NTF", Amazon
26 August 2009
  • Summary: This is a fast little printer. Unfortunately, it has the deplorable tendency to produce paper jams - which wouldn't be so bad if it were easier to get to the jammed paper. So far, I've always had to remove the toner cartridge, and even then it was difficult. The slit of the manual paper feed is barely wide enough for a letter-sized piece of paper, and if you need to print labels, you have to wiggle the page in just right (it prints them fine from the paper tray, though).

Samsung ML-2851ND at Best Disappointing

TjSandy "Thomas J. Hatton", Amazon
17 January 2009
  • Summary: The printer is disappointing. The printer jams on the first page where the paper starts coming out of the paper tray at least once a day. It uses too much toner and the toner cartridges cost too much. Part of the problem is that we had a Samsung ML-1710 for around 5 years and it worked great the cartrides lasted a long time and were not too expensive. We rarely had a problem with it. In comparison the ML-2851ND is always having a problem.
