WOW

Anonymous, Newegg
19 June 2009
  • Summary: The printer is big, but not massive and the size was clear from other reviews so I can't call it a con. On the other hand, if your space is REALLY limitted, this is not the printer for you...
  • Pros: The setup was easy beyond comparison. I have been a loyal HP guy for years and have watched them grow to be kind of annoying as well tending towards bloated management software. This printer on the other hand is easy and concise from the console setup to the web admin interface. Superior supplies...
  • Cons: Granted I have only had the printer for a week or so... but I just can't name one.

Great printer!

David S., Newegg
24 March 2009
  • Summary: Hope I can post back later about consumables, and photo paper print quality. As long as this printer is reliable though, I am already as pleased as could be!
  • Pros: Just got it today, and for under $300.00, this is the most amazing printer I've ever seen! Great color (maybe not photo quality, but pretty close), duplex, 1-16 frames per page, DHCP, static, or USB, virtually silent (when not printing.) Haven't tried it with photo paper yet, but looks great on p...
  • Cons: Not really cons, but goes with the territory: It's HUGE! It's HEAVY. And from what I can tell, replacing all 4 toner cartridges will cost about 50% more than the printer cost to begin with. I suspect it ships with reduced capacity cartridges, but I'm not sure. Anyway, this is for the house, and I...

  • Pros: simple installation and operation. fast, quiet and excellent print quality. Have been HP user for years and have found a great printer with low print cost. Ink management system is easy to configure
  • Cons: Paper tray/Drawer is a little tricky. could use better guides. no problem loading though and paper quanity indicator is handy

Great printer

Anonymous, Newegg
12 February 2009
  • Summary: I'm using this printer for home use. It may be a bit overkill for that but I like it for it's low cost of ownership and it's ability to do pretty much anything I need. If you are trying to use this printer with Vista I would recommend using the included disk to install the drivers as manual...
  • Pros: Built in networking, duplexing (works fine for me). Unlike cheaper laser printers this one does not require a separate charging drum to be replaced frequently as the drums are built into the cartridges. This also allows the toner to be recycled instead of being dumped into a waste bin. This gives...
  • Cons: It's very BIG. But I knew what I was in for. If the printer has to warm up, the first page can take 20-30 sec to finish. Cumbersome driver install in Vista; very difficult to do manually. It was a breeze to setup in Windows 7 beta though.

Great Printer, Great Price

Anonymous, Newegg
7 November 2008
  • Summary: Watch out for the settings on the mac. You need to make sure to enable "fine edge" under "printer features," or else you will get little colored dots all around your black text. Once you do this, the text is very crisp.
  • Pros: I got this printer from newegg, and love it. I was concerned that it would not be good, judging by its relatively low price, but this was definitely not the cast. It prints great looking color and black and white text, is fast once it gets going, and has duplexing for an added bonus. The toner is...
  • Cons: Somewhat slow to warm up from sleep. Somewhat over saturated color.

Large Duplex Color

Lyle F., Newegg
16 October 2008
  • Summary: Pleased so far driver worked well with Vista 32bit and XP.
  • Pros: Sleep mode works well and warms up fairly quickly. No noticable noise while in sleep. Duplex has really been a savings on trees for those final draft's of book reports. Color/resolution great to produce all those pictures of my son's favorite political candidate Even when printing the device does...
  • Cons: Toner will be expensive when I need it. Somewhat small paper volume for the size and speed of the printer.

Sweet printer

Mitchell B., Newegg
4 September 2008
  • Summary: I ordered on a Saturday, Newegg stated a three day delivery, it shipped on Tuesday (Monday was a Holiday) and arrived on Thursday. The UPS delivery person deserves an award. No one was home for the attempted delivery, it was raining, and a signature was required.
  • Pros: Wired network ready (DHCP is default setting) very good text printing very good color printing automatic duplexer much quieter than my old inkjet when printing excellent value at Newegg's price as of 9/4/2008 free shipping both black & white and color versions of printer driver driver setup does ...
  • Cons: somewhat large for home use (17" cube), but I knew that before I purchased it somewhat heavy, although I did manage it by myself very little clearance between bottom of printer and thus the paper tray and whatever surface it is resting on driver installation installs several applications other th...

Great Printer

Seann C., Newegg
15 August 2008
  • Summary: Setting this up in Linux is simple, just follow the instructions from one of the other reviews on this printer. Setting this up in Samba to share it with the Windows world was a little more tricky, since it seems to work better/more stable with the use client driver option set to yes.
  • Pros: Good quality in color and B&W. Very quiet, can barely notice the sound from it printing. Network setup is very simple after setting it up on the LCD for its initial IP. Works very well with a Linux print server (Samba+CUPS)
  • Cons: Can't easily find the second add-on tray for this product in the US, to expand the capacity from 250-750 sheets of paper.

Super Happy!

Kevin W., Newegg
1 July 2008
  • Pros: Prints very nice quality, duplex and color laser for a price of 2 toner cartridges! I've been looking for a replacement to an inkjet that satisfies my business and design needs (I have a large format for big jobs) and my soon to be wife's teaching printing. She loves the duplex feature, and I lov...
  • Cons: BIG, but what do you expect? It needs about 3 cubic feet.
