Terrific light-use home printer, wireless works perfect
3 January 2012
Summary: Don't be fooled by all the reviews that give this printer bad reviews for things like time it takes to print or bulkiness. It's a laser printer that is inexpensive, toner that lasts forever if treated properly, wireless connectivity means freedom to use wherever. We've owned ours for over three years, and have spent a total of $0 on anything since the initial purchase.
Pros: Wireless allows us to place it in the middle of our house and forget about it (we honestly use it maybe 5-6 times a month total). Toner lasts forever, quality always perfect. We use draft quality to save toner, high for pictures, which all look great
Cons: It's a bit bulky. There are complaints about time to warm up, but since we either print from downstairs or upstairs, by the time we walk to the printer, it's not an issue. It's also a bit noisy, but again, low use = no problem.
Summary: We got this unit as a Christmas present for ourselves. Installed the software and away it went working as advertised. One must make sure you have a unique address for each computer by changing the last number to one different than the others. The pictures are clear, much better than ink jet. I use a coated paper for laser printers, not the ink jet photo paper as it will not work. The unit works well on lighter multi color pictures but not well on dark photos.
Summary: I got my refurbished printer about a week ago. Set it up with a wired connection and have printed around 200 pages so far with no issues. I assume that the quality for photo printing is marginal based on previous reviews, but for basic office use it's been great so far! This replaced a color inkjet that I used for similar documents. As expected, text is much sharper with the laser.
Summary: I have complete confidence in this product brand and have the same printer still working but it did not have WiFi. Had the chance do upgrade to a wireless environment and sought to get my same printer with this additional capability.
Excerpt: "...five years has been a Samsung LED (laser) printer, which has never given me a bit of trouble – I put a new cartridge in every 18 months or so, and that’s about it. So, after looking up the internet, I decided upon the Samsung CLP-315W (W for wireless, as opposed to the standard wireless-less sibling!) I’m always wary of buying ‘stupid cheap’ printers because the manufacturers nearly always sting you for consumables – the fact that the CLP-315 ...
Pros: Inexpensive no - frill colour laser printer with wireless connectivity
Cons: Initial cartridges don't seem to provide as many prints as replacements
