Summary: It was really good at the beginning. Today, I wanted to print a page, the paper got stuck half way through the printer. I pulled it out (following the instructions) and tried to print again, mulfunctioned again. I tried everything but didn't work. I called the customer supprt line, he said it needs service and costs more than its cost! So much for Samsung, never again I purchase a Samsung.
Summary: Seemed like a good price and it worked fine for a while but even with very light use, it malfunctioned shortly after the warranty expired. I tried all the recommended troubleshoots and fixes from Samsung support but nothing stopped the paper jams. Worse, I had just recently inserted all new color cartridges which are very expensive, so I will probably be forced to buy another clp-315 so i dont eat an additional $150 on the ink.
Summary: This is a decent printer, although it's quite slow out of hibernation and sometimes is unable to print (requires a reset). Installation was pretty simple. Using Windows 7, I just followed the instructions on the manual. The big caveat of this printer is that Samsung has decided it wants you to buy its ink (at inflated prices), which means there's a chip inside the printer that recognizes whether you're buying Samsung's inflated ink cart prices (IE: you have to pay $100...
Summary: Worked fine through it's initial set of toners, died 2 years from date of purchase with minimal use just by sitting there. Would not power up anymore. Great buy if you get it for < $100 and use it JUST with the initial set of toner. Don't bother buying more toner for it, you won't get to use them. Color quality was decent, had to lighten ALL photo material on screen before printing, otherwise all prints came out too dark.
Summary: Nice little color laser. Cost me less than $100 which seemed too good to be true. It definitely was too good to be true. Plugged it in and it went, easy set-up. This thing does fine with routine printing of letters, and anything with color graphics. Photo printing is okay, not great. With semi-gloss presentation paper you can make some very nice flyers and photo quality images will come out looking pretty good. The printer is VERY fussy about paper it will take.
Summary: If you are a Mac user, beware. There is an active thread on the Apple Discussion Forums about problems with this printer. Bottom line, it works well with OS X 10.6.2 but not with 10.6.3 or 10.6.4. Neither Apple nor Samsung will acknowledge this, so you are stuck. In addition, I received a defective replacement print cartridge and neither Samsung (the manufacturer) nor the seller of the cartridge will (currently) replace it.
Summary: I purchased one about a year ago and about a month later it started making a thumping noise and then very shortly after it quit. Customer service was great and I quickly had a replacement. About 8 months later it started to randomly cycle, like it was warming up. I didn't really think about it, but didn't print anything for a couple of days. When I finally was ready the machine would not print.
Summary: I have had this printer for just over a year and use it fairly often (I'm on my second set of ink cartridges). I was pretty happy with the printer except it seems to take a long time to 'warm up'. But recently I started getting a paper jam error on every page. The paper feeds properly but for some reason the Sammsung reports it as a jam. The page prints about half way and stops.
Summary: I bought this for use wth a Vista machine. When the printer works properly it is fairly quiet and the print quaility is acceptable. However I have had problems with the wireless feature. The printer works wirelessly when I first turn it on but after about 10 or 15 minutes it goes offline and I can no longer print to it. If I turn the printer off and on it reconnects and the page in the que prints.
Summary: The price for this printer is great for a color printer, but I was not impressed with the print quality or construction of the printer. Overall, the image quality for images comes out okay, but the image quality for text is not quite as sharp compared to b&w lasers or higher quality laser printers. If you're upgrading from a inkjet, this will be an improvement, but if you're used to other color lasers, you will be slightly disappointed.
