Summary: After nearly 30,000 pages of flawless printing, my printer now "needs" a new drum. There is no easy way to reset the drum counter -- it's a chip built into the drum. And the printer will stop until you cough up the money for a new drum. The cost of a new drum is in excess of $185. I can buy a new printer for just about $185, so of course, I did. At least the Brother printers have a drum reset feature. Didn't do my homework on this one.
Summary: I bought this printer based on excellent Internet reviews. When I received it, I noticed that the print quality was not quite as good as my old HP LaserJet had been. Not bad, just not as good and I felt I could live with that. However, when I replaced the toner cartridge (which was shortly after I got the printer as the cartridge that came with it had a VERY limited capacity), I began to notice spots of toner in the right-hand margin.
Summary: The Oki B431d is a fast LED printer. It prints both sides nicely, and i like it, but it has some quirks that make me long for my old HP. Has trouble printing my old fonts the way my HP did. It randomly goes offline which is annoying, but not too big of a deal since I am not using it as a networked printer so I can hit the button when it refuses to print. Bypass tray doesn't work by default when I open it.
Summary: Oki makes fine and reliable products. This unit, while not the quietest, is a Fast workhorse. The only thing it doesn't do well is print #10 envelopes. It curls and wrinkles them and sometimes even makes the envelope flap glue stick. Good buy though if you need to print a lot of text documents. I'm a bookkeeper and tax preparer so that means lots of laser printing.
Summary: Let me say this machine works 5/5 stars with win7 64 bit mode. However this machine is a 1/5 stars with OS X Here is the list of problems with the printer and OS X using the network to print. Does not "wake-up" from sleep mode. Does not print simple charts (print as a black box). Does not print in landscape mode After 101 pages machine generates a script error and crashes. Multiple print jobs cause the machine to generate script error.
