Summary: Solid printer meaning very well constructed. Take a look at the latest HP printers. Open the front panel and you'll notice the plastic is cheap and flimsy. Not so with this Oki. HP also gouges you on toner cost. The printer is the gateway drug while the toner is the heroin. Oki toner is thrifty. My only real complaint is that the printer (on the standard power save mode) takes a few seconds to heat up before printing a page.
Lot of bang for the buck, good for Windows, Mac owners beware...

Summary: I replaced a 19 year old HP Laser Jet 4L printer with this..comparisons between the 2 make no sense. Setup was almost painless. The instructions didn't sync with what I saw in the box, and in trying to follow them released some toner from the cartridge which made a bit of a mess. Otherwise I would have been up and printing in under 5 minutes. Print quality is great, startup time is good, and it's a fast printer. It works as advertised and works well.
Summary: Bought this for my office. It's fast once it starts printing and quiet while waiting for work. The manual feed tray is hyper sensitive about different thicknesses of paper - I alternately feed thick letterhead and envelopes and cheap thin copy paper and #10s envelopes. Transitioning between the thicker papers and the thinner papers requires I babysit (refeed) the printer a lot more than I want to.
Pros: fast quiet and inexpensive good print quality
Cons: hyper sensitive to paper thickness. fussier than the norm
Summary: Nice, fast, small footprint Black and White printer. It was easy to set up, not to loud for home office, and this printer offers duplex (2 sided printing) as a standard feature. I have it set on the network for shared printing as well as USB on my desk, and all users in the house are happy with the speed and quality of the print.
Pros: first page out speed enclosed paper tray for letter and legal multi-purpose tray for envelopes
Summary: Coming from a SLOW Canon Bubble (ink) Jet printer that used ink like a Hummer uses gas, this OkiData B411DN (mine is BLACK) is like a Toyota Prius, except as fast as a Porsche. I plugged the ethernet cable (not supplied) into my wireless router in the other room, and my computer instantly recognized it, but I still had to use the install CD. Did not have any issues with my MacBookPro, but I am running an older OS (10.58) and it works great!
Summary: The materials used in the manufacture of this printer are cheap. The feeder does not work as it should. Probably ok for home use, but running a small business with loading stationary and checks on a daily basis is not good a good fit for this printer. The first month has been shaky with spotting from the ink, jamming of the feeder, not being able to line up quickbook checks properly. Not a great buy when it does not perform.
Summary: I purchased this printer after reading the 5 reviews. Worst mistake ever. Software drivers for Mac OSX were a disaster and printing from web pages and other aps. often had the prints going horizontal instead of vertical... consistent printing from misc. Apple application was simply a roll of the dice.
Summary: I finally retired my 18 year old HP Laserjet 6MP. It still works, but the network printer box that I've been using with it is broken and my new computer does not have a parallel port on the back. The review on CNET for the OKI B411DN was very positive which led me to choose this printer. It was a true plug and play on my network. After attaching the cords and turning it on, my computer detected the printer on the network right away.
Summary: I purchased this printer as my old Okidata had finally given up the ghost after twenty years of service. I was looking for a good, reliable printer at a good price and that's what I got. I have it connected to my other computers via router and it works great that, though I had some problems at first as it seemed to keep changing address, but I got that sorted out.
