"Good printer but it died after 13 mos & 12000 prints"
3 September 2008
Pros: Very affordable, fast printing color laser printer with automatic duplex. Good toll-free tech support. On-site repair for one year. Color quality is good but not spectacular (but what do you expect for a $400 printer?). Good enough in most cases.
Cons: Manual feed for paper and envelopes is not stable and jams often. That part of the printer needs a complete redesign. If it doesn't fit in the main printer tray, you probably won't be able to print on it with confidence.
Multipurpose tray is a problem - Gray areas on white

Summary: I got the C530dn Friday and loved the vibrant color. When I had to use the multipurpose tray to print an envelope, it did not work. I went the Lexmark's webpage but did not find any help there. The printer does not come with a "Getting Started" instruction manual on how to load the paper. I sent an e-mail regarding my problem on Friday, and received two automatic acknowledgments, but that was it.
Summary: Pros: Excellent print quality, duplesin, network connectivity Cons: Printer self calibrates every 2 hours; this is a huge waste of mechanical resources. Imagine self-calibrating 12 times a day 36 times a month. It is also annoying when the printer comes on for a few second to self-calibrate. Lexmark technical support was contacted several times by phone and email to receive the same answer, the printer self-calibrates and it cannot be change or adjusted.

Summary: PROS: Good printer. Great speed. Duplexer. LCD screen shows title of printing document. Ability to restrict who on the network can print in color. Printer administration from within computer software. Inexpensive, good value for money for small businesses. CONS: Would have given 4-stars but, the default Postscript PS3 driver does not print complex documents well (i.e. images and fonts).
