Konica Minolta Magicolor 1650EN Color Laser Printer
4 February 2015
Summary: Hate leaving a one star because I've had 6 other printers from this manufacturer over the years and all were great. This one worked for about an hour, then it died. Was making funny noises, as if the toner gears weres sticking. The pages that did get printed looked great and I use a ton of graphics on each page I print, almost 70% coverage on an 8 1/2 x 11 inch page.
Summary: the toner cartridges are so cheap that the little handle snapped off as I tried to change the yellow one. Handle then fell inside the unit, and "service required" displayed on the LCD screen. I'm going to cut my losses and sell this thing on Ebay, as-is. Cheap quality.
Summary: I bought this printer because I do not print often and I was sick of my inkjet drying up. I tried to print pictures with this printer, but gave up trying to color match my monitor to the output. I would not recommend this for images, but good for those of us who print intermittently. I'm going on almost 2 years with the original cartridges.
Summary: I bought this to replace my old Magicolor 2300w. There were some issues setting it up. Apparently, the toner carousel was bumped around enough in shipping that it could not rotate during calibration and failed initialization. I needed to remove the imaging cartridge and (against vendor warnings in the manual) carefully rotate the carousel from the inside, avoiding the toner rollers during the process.
Summary: I can print from Photoshop CS without issue most of the time and the resulting image and color are quite nice - WHEN it works. Otherwise, it was problems from the get-go. First, the driver install flaked out and no amount of workarounds made it install fully. It's slow, I knew this going in from other reviews, but it's painfully bad. It is also quite loud, especially on start up; it literally makes loud clanking noises.
Summary: We ordered this to replace a Konica that we had used and wore it out--it lasted for many years. So we ordered this one thinking we'd be getting the same quality...not happening. We're very disappointed that it works at random and has great difficulties being used in our home network. I can rarely get it to print from my computer and have to send the docs to my husband's computer which is directly connected to the printer. When it does work, it is good--not great.
Summary: I searched and compared and pondered over the decision to purchase the magicolor 1650EN and at first I was elated. It had all the features I wanted in a compact size and, especially important to me printing out greeting cards for my business, was rated as the budget machine with the best graphics output. The print quality was impressive but I could not get the thing to run reliably and print on the 80 pound stock I was using.
Summary: (Have owned this product for about 2 years. Used to be a laser printer tech.) It prints okay in B&W on letter paper. Get outside of that, you're likely to have trouble. Very noisy (you almost have to yell over it). No internal tray (folds out of front, feels cheap). Tiny tray (legal paper just hangs out). VERY SLOW (compounds with noisy, if you want to print a large color document with photos, you are going to hear this thing going like a vacuum for the next 30 mins).
