Meh print quality, and dead after a only year

Summary: About a year ago one of my young kids destroyed my venerable old HP Laserjet 6L B&W laser printer, so went shopping for a replacement. I was excited to find this color laser for such a low price. The HP was more expensive, and I decided to give this brand a try.
Excerpt: This printer REQUIRES that you buy a USB cable. The amount of toner is minimal so plan on spending some money for a set of toner cartridges. Like all the printer companies, they make the money on toner/ink.
Summary: I used this printer for about a year for a small weekly newsletter. The print quality is certainly acceptable. The printer, however, is loud, clunky, and slow. Comparing it with another color laser I own, it seems to use more toner per copy. It did not work well with generic toner cartridges.
Summary: Comments about Konica Minolta Magicolor 1600W Laser Printer: Toner replacements cost more than the original printer costs. Konica Minolta personnel admit that they sell printers cheap and make up the money on toner. This applies to all printer manufacturers.
Summary: Great example of Jekyll & Hyde in a printer. Unit works fine til you replace the toner, then becomes awful. First off the lack of WINDOWS 7 drivers is a major issue at present. When using generic drivers there are no tools for cleaning, color correction, etc.
