Summary: i have been waiting a solid 29 minutes listening to this printer make noise, trying to initiate a print of some 8 lines of type. so far its not ready to do it yet. this is the slowest machine ive ever owned. i got this printer to avoid the hassles of constant cleaning and horrid print quality that came with my brand new epson and its' clogged everything. at first i was happy with it because it could actually print! and the prints on the hp photo paper looked pretty good.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER or anything else from Buy.com

Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A MAC. HP's print driver for MAC does not allow for low ink alerts and the printer stops working when an ink cartridge is out (there is no override). The ink levels in the print utility are way off (up to 50%) so I am forced to have all 8 ink cartridges on hand (at $40 each). Buy.com will not return my emails even though the printer is under warranty and they have no telephone number. Amazon takes zero responsibility.
Summary: I wanted to move up to a higher-level printer so I could print on fine-art papers at larger sizes than 8-1/2x11. Reviews for this printer were quite good (not just here at Amazon) and the price was good, so I bought it. I was very excited to make my first print but very disappointed when I saw the results. All prints exhibited a yellow color cast plus low saturation and print detail was not very good. I was comparing this to a much cheaper HP D7560 printer.
Summary: I have had this printer for over 7 months now and only 1 out 5 pictures are accurate in regards to color. I bought Element 7.0 just to make sure that I would get the best quality picture and have had unending problems. I have called the help desk to find out 'how do I know if the plug-in is working?' They can not help. I either reach India or Canada (Canada is definitely better). The only info they have is what I already know.
Summary: I had read the reviews and thought about the HP B8850 for a long time. A friend was getting incredible results from a lesser HP printer. So I bit the bullet even knowing it was a noisy and expensive printer to use. I wanted to upgrade from my trusty Epson 1270 that was just starting to give me fits after 6 years and also get the pigment inks. What a mistake, I spent the first day trying to get a decent print, they all turned out magenta.
Summary: This printer is terrible to use. The one I got was defective and damaged the paper as it went through. The design is also terrible. Paper is hard to load. It's loud. You have to wait lots for it to reset itself. The software is problematic. When you change one setting it resets others to a default, so you have to change them again, total hassle.
