HP Photosmart eStation C510a Review
2 June 2011
Conclusion: In general, the HP Photosmart eStation is a great multifunction printer. It’s especially ideal for family use, and will undeniably meet your printing (photo and text), scanning, copying, and faxing (if you even need that) needs. The Zeen, which may initially feel like a bulky, gimmick addition to the printer, actually has a variety of useful purposes, and we can see the built-in Web apps getting enough use to be considered valuable.
Pros: Unique tablet interface offers intuitive UI, helpful printer settings, useful bonus apps, Impressive photo printing, designated photo tray, Bright, responsive touchscreen, Wi-Fi for portability, Photo gallery service for showing off and printing photos
Cons: Lack of physical controls on eStation can be disorienting, Loud, Expensive – you’re paying for the tablet’s novelties, not an outstanding printer, No USB port
Excerpt: The HP Photosmart eStation C510 is one of HP's newest Internet-connected ePrint printers. This model has a detachable 7-inch Google Android-powered tablet that lets you browse the Internet and much more. Print quality is quite good and the wireless Web printing makes this model a reasonable competitor.
Pros: Lots of multimedia features, ePrint wireless printing, 7-inch Zeen Android tablet, Good photo & text quality
Summary: You've got to hand it to HP: when the company decides to rethink printing, it thinks big. Its HP Photosmart eStation weds a fast, capable colour inkjet multifunction with a unique extra: the Zeen, a removable touchscreen control panel running the Google Android 2.1 operating system and offering some limited, tablet PCs-like functionality, including web browsing and E-book reading.
