"Clearing a jam triggers a system failure you can't fix."

clarkza, CNET
23 November 2010
  • Pros: Decent printer when it was working. Good print quality. Worked fine on the network, though I opted to use a lan cable connection.
  • Cons: Clearing a routine paper jam trigger a system error "Lift output tray, push picture tray in until it stops, etc.." and there is no way to reset the printer to get it to work again. Googled issue and it is a common issue that no one can resolve.

"An error machine"

higgsbozon, CNET
2 October 2010
  • Pros: On the rare occasion when it works, it does a good job and is fast.
  • Cons: The thing is CONSTANTLY having paper jams, having ink expirations, having carriage jams (with no jams). I hate this thing. In the trash with it.

  • Pros: Wireless connection...if you can get it to work
  • Cons: This is the most unreliable product HP has ever made. Every time I go to use the printer, it will not connect to the pc.

"Bound for the garbage heap"

dislike_my_hp_printer, CNET
14 June 2009
  • Pros: Now and then it prints
  • Cons: It jams and jams and jams. And when you're not clearing the jam, you are refilling ink. While it has wireless capabilities (great), a software update corrupted my computer which cost me hours and $$ (not great.)

"Terrible. More like a paper jam machine."

bcarter3687, CNET
1 June 2009
  • Pros: Decent print and photo quality, when it works.
  • Cons: Takes quite a while on startup for "printer preparation", will jam up or at best crinkle pages more often than not. Blows through ink cartridges.

Read BEFORE buying this printer

y2kgixxer, Ebay
7 June 2008
  • Summary: I want every one to know that DO NOT buy this printer with out ink. This printer needs the ink it comes with in order to initialize and work properly. If you buy ink at the store and install it on the printer it WILL NOT work. I called HP tech support, and it was explained that the ink formula in the ink that comes with the printer has a different formula and is more concentrated than the ink you buy at the store.
