Excerpt: My mother sent the HP Photosmart D7160 photoprinter to me for Christmas. I have to say, I love it! I was a little concerned at first about the cost of ink for this printer since it has six different ink cartridges. Five color and one large black.
Summary: We have had this for years and used it to print thousands of pictures. It prints nice photos that last well even under fluorescents 24-7. It is wicked fast on draft quality prints for printing off text if necessary. Printing ink is EXPENSIVE, but that is nothing new. The cartridges last for a decent amount of time.
Summary: The printer does a good job of printing. However, the ink cartridges are small and expensive. If one color cartridge runs low, the printer won't print even in back and white. The cartridges also have date chips in them and even though the may be new and full of ink they won't work. All in all an annoying situation.
Summary: I would have chosen 5 stars, but this printer has become a little dated, and appears to have some issues that cannot be fixed, but are tolerable in its paper handling. Both the photo and print quality is good, with a separate compartment available for 4x6 photo paper so you don't have to switch papers.
Summary: I really like this printer. It is user-friendly and has separate cartridges for more economical ink replacement. I had the exact same model several years ago and wanted another just like it. Thank you, Amazon!
Summary: This printer is still to date the best quality printer that I have had as far as producing high resolution photo prints. It also prints documents at what I would call blazing speed. However, here is the "But" part: Printer preperation time is annoying. I do not sit at my desk printing documents/photos after documents photos. If you let it sit, power off the printer, so on so fourth the preperaton time is excessively annoying.
Summary: I've had this printer for quite a while and am very happy with the photos I print. Many people have asked me where I get my photos developed, and they're surprised to hear that I print them off myself. Color and clarity are great on both glossy and semi-gloss papers. The printing speed is a little slow, but it's worth the wait. Reason I got this printer, is that it was recommended to me by my nephew who works for HP.
