Excerpt: My mother sent the HP Photosmart D7160 photoprinter to me for Christmas. I have to say, I love it! I was a little concerned at first about the cost of ink for this printer since it has six different ink cartridges. Five color and one large black. I soon found that my concerns were unfounded since this printer uses so little ink.
Summary: We have had this for years and used it to print thousands of pictures. It prints nice photos that last well even under fluorescents 24-7. It is wicked fast on draft quality prints for printing off text if necessary. Printing ink is EXPENSIVE, but that is nothing new. The cartridges last for a decent amount of time.
Summary: The printer does a good job of printing. However, the ink cartridges are small and expensive. If one color cartridge runs low, the printer won't print even in back and white. The cartridges also have date chips in them and even though the may be new and full of ink they won't work. All in all an annoying situation.
Summary: I would have chosen 5 stars, but this printer has become a little dated, and appears to have some issues that cannot be fixed, but are tolerable in its paper handling. Both the photo and print quality is good, with a separate compartment available for 4x6 photo paper so you don't have to switch papers.
Summary: I really like this printer. It is user-friendly and has separate cartridges for more economical ink replacement. I had the exact same model several years ago and wanted another just like it. Thank you, Amazon!
Summary: I think this ink jet printer produces some of the highest quality images on photo paper besides any other ink jet printer on the market. I have yet to find another one better than this one. The problem is that the printer does not work for very long. Mine stopped working after two years because the rollers stop grasping the photo paper to print on. The cost to repair it cost more than buying a brand new printer.
Summary: I read reports on this printer and that is why I purchased it, and it was reasonably priced. Now that I have had it so quit sometime I was rather pleased with most of the job that it has produced. BUT I hadn't really used to scaner portion until I needed to. It only produced one clear copy and the rest were unreadable or scaning a picture it came out terrible.
Summary: The printer uses 02 ink which produces quite a few copies of black written copies. The Photo copier is great for sd cards and produces great clarity in the photos. The setup went pretty quick, using it for part time college work mostly, no problems to speak of. I boughr this printer because I have a C7250 all in one, which is the next version above this printer which makes fantastic prints just like this D7160 but without the scanner.
Summary: Photo HP is super nice. Click on properties for high print standards. 4X6 cards, individual tray for the 4X6s photos. This tray rides above paper 11 X 5 paper tray. HP takes the following digital cards inside this area that has its own flap protector cover::: XD, MS, CF, & SD. My Finepix E900 has a cord going to my PC which uses the photo wizard from Microsoft XP.
