Cartridges run out after less than 10 pages apparently

Summary: Prints fine like any other, but after less than 10 pages printed it stopped, apparently due to ink cartridges emptied. I'm wondering if the cartdiges it comes with are just sample sizes. But it's a sham that they sell printers so cheaply but you have to spend lots on replacement ink. Typical for the commercial class.
Summary: Bought this in December 2008 so we've had it about 6 months now. The colors are brilliant so there are no complaints there. Almost everything else about this printer is just awful. It always has issues with feeding paper, be it 4X6 photo or 8.5X 11 glossy paper (I literally have to stick a pencil into the the paper feeder to help the paper along). Also, the printer will tell you the ink is empty after just a few pages on the new ink, I kid you not.
Summary: Have owned several HP printers in the past and always was satisfied....until now. Had to ditch my old 932 model when I switched to a new computer with Vista, and thought that this one would be a good everyday printer. (I use Epson for my photos.) I wanted this one primarily for printing envelopes and labels and email notes. My first snag came when I tried printing an envelope.
Summary: As a printer-to-paper device, it is excellent, and fast. My problem is that except for the rather rudimentary direct to CD/DVD driver that is included with the printer, there is no longer a software package available from Roxio, my desired and previously used (on the HP C5280) software package. Essentially, at this point, the D5460 is a paper printer, but not the printable CD/DVD printer that I thought I was purchasing.
Summary: This unit prints fine provided that you do not want to SHARE the printer between two computers. The HP web site gives directions on how to set the printer up for sharing, but alas... it refuses to share. Discussions with HP "Technical (non)Support" for over an hour proved to less than frutful as the Tech Rep had no clue about anything technical... especially printers. A call to "HP Central" in California led to a Senior Case Manager (an impressive title, eh?
