  • Summary: I originally bought this printer for its scanning functionality which works well, but as a printer it is a nightmare: Whether using photo or ordinary paper the printer frequently can't find the paper, resulting in hours of frustration as I try to get the printer to recognise that there really is paper in it. And the printer frequently has communication problems with my Mac computer, resulting in lots of wasted paper with just a few random characters printed on it.
  • Pros: LCD screen is easy to use. Scanner gives good results
  • Cons: Constantly complains that it is out of paper when it isn't. Uses far more ink than advertised.

  • Summary: It worked really well out of the box. The next time I tried, it failed to print altogether, so I went through the set up procedure - from the CD provided, and from driver software downloaded from HP site, but to no avail. Called HP, who spent 2 weeks on the problem, in the course of which I spent hours on the phone (at my expense), at my computer (running diagnostics and sending them the results) and waiting for them to return my calls (usually without result).
  • Pros: Looks fine
  • Cons: Doesn't work, and HP couldn't fix fatal software problem

  • Summary: Look elsewhere if you want stress free and trouble free printing. This piece of c**p will have tearing your hair out. Photo printing means hours of wasted time, ink and photo paper. Don't even think of trying to print envelopes, because this only means yet more wasted time and envelopes, it likes to screw them up, and you have to revert to go old fashioned way using a pen and write the envelope out.
  • Pros: Nothing, nil stars out of five.
  • Cons: Complete c**p at all types of printing, especially envelopes.
