HP Photosmart A646 Compact Printer

PC Magazine
25 July 2010
  • Conclusion: The HP Photosmart A646 Compact Printer is a worthy successor to the Editors' Choice A636 in many ways, but it falters badly on ease of use.
  • Pros: Touch screen with generally well-designed menus. Prints 5-by-7s, 4-by-6s, and panoramas up to 4 by 12 inches.
  • Cons: Speed is acceptable but slow. Messages on the printer LCD and the approach to printing from a computer can be confusing.

  • Cons: Inaccurate color when printing from SD-card slot, Slow, Consumables are expensive, Some install glitches in our tests

Review: HP Photosmart A646 Compact Photo Printer

9 November 2009
  • Excerpt: Printers are boring you say? You’ve obviously never fired up an A646. Besides being not much bigger than a lunch box, this pipsqueak of a portable pumps out gorgeous, vibrant 5 x 7 pictures (or panoramas) via your camera’s Bluetooth, USB, or memory card connection.
  • Pros: Surprisingly sharp, vivid print quality for such a petite package. A lobotomized hamster could set this thing up. Reasonably agile touchscreen for purikura -style doodles. Bluetooth, SD slot cut the cords.
  • Cons: No battery, so be on the lookout for outlets “in the field.” Prints only on pricey photo paper.
