Summary: I bought this to replace a HP LaserJet printing that I was doing documents only on. I wanted a versatile printer that could also do photos and I knew HP was the best. Amazing photos are produced and you can preview, edit and print photos without a computer using the media slots and display on the unit. I only use a computer, only use HP Inks and HP paper and clean it often.
Summary: We have had this printer for over 20 months now and I figured that it was enough time to test it before writing about it :) When I originally went to buy a photo printer the CompUSA store that I was in had an HP Rep there for the Christmas to answer questions about their product lines. Being that I have worked on and with computers for many years we had a pretty good no-BS discussion.
Summary: I like that the pictures come out really sharp and fast. The only thing that I didn't like about the product is figuring out what tray to use for 4x6 photos. I decided to buy the printer because I am a photographer and I needed a quality photo printer for on location events.
The only thing from HP I will ever buy is a printer

Summary: I purched the 8450xi about 6 months ago to replace an Epson 925 inkjet. I honestly am not a fan of HP, in fact I usually boycott anything they make that is why I switched to Epson years ago. After having streaking issues with the Epson I seriously looked at different manufacturers and I knew from my previous use of an HP that it never had any problems.
Great Prints, but Goes through Gray Ink Like Water

Summary: I love this thing!! I got it for my wife for her birthday, and we both use it pretty regularly. The clarity of the pictures are no different from what you get at a photo processing center. My one complaint (which kept me from giving this a 5 star rating), is it goes through gray ink after something like 50-60 pictures. The other two cartridges are still more than half-full (or thereabouts), when the gray runs out.
Summary: I just got this printer 3 days ago. It started out great, I was printing pictures out of my digital camera and the printer does a good job with that. Here is my problem with this printer - I went from a HP DeskJet printer where I can print regular items: envelopes, letterhead, etc. I have a printing program (Printmaster) where I have letterheads, envelopes, cards, stuff like that saved and for some reason this printer's software has caused the margins to shrink quite a...
Summary: I've owned several printers, among them a few photo printers. The 8450 produces the best results of any of them, and it does so quickly. I expected that the printer cartridges would be expensive to replace; the three of them cost about $80. The only drawback I've found so far is the huge size of that mother; you need to reserve a couple of feet of shelf space somewhere for it. In spite of that, I'm glad I have it because the finished photos are outstanding.
