OK printer, terrible customer service

Daniel B., Newegg
12 February 2007
  • Summary: I've had an ongoing problem with the paper feeding mechanism, which got progressively worse over the past two months, and now does not work at all. Even though that I've never had a printer go bad this fast, my main gripe is still the terrible customer service I've recieved from HP, while trying to...
  • Pros: Separate ink tanks, LCD screen, card reader... all very nice touches. Good quality prints.
  • Cons: -Defective or poorly designed paper feeding mechanism (apparently a common problem for this model). Just went bad on mine after only 5 months of ownership -*tiny* ink tanks -Slow startup time, since it invariably seems to do "device maintenance" / cleaning cycles etc...

Great concepts but poor execution

S. DELANCEY, Amazon
18 November 2005
  • Summary: We purchased this printer as a gift for my father in-law for Christmas. Conceptually, I loved the design. Separate ink tanks with one head, ability to print your own 4x6 prints from the card slots. He has a very nice Panasonic 4 MP camera but never prints out the pictures for my mother in-law.

NOT COMPATIBLE!

Tony Cruz, Amazon
18 November 2005
  • Summary: I purchased this printer a few years ago at Staples after being convinced by the sales person. The printer worked great. My family, friends and I were amazed of the quality. I was working with windows ME. Once my computer crashed, I purchased a new computer with windows "Vista.

Nice Look; heavy expense

John Studt, Amazon
18 November 2005
  • Summary: I bought this Printer 40 days ago. This is a great printer if you have: 1) bluethooth technology on your computer and related $40 adaptors (which my computer did not), 2) a compatible memory card or "PictBridge" camera (which my Olympus camera was not), 3) a desire to spend lots more money and...

Worked great for 12 months, RIP

Paul G. McCravy, Amazon
18 November 2005
  • Summary: Then it started jamming and now it can't be repaired. With the relative light usage it received, I would have expected a longer life span. I gave it two stars as it was great while it lasted.

Ink System Failures

Sustyhops, Amazon
18 November 2005
  • Summary: This product was great when I first had it, but after 2 years it had a paper jam and since then problem after problem has occurred. Now it only prints green, yellow and blue. which is worthless to me. Do not buy it, it is a wasted of money.

Great photos, but a pain for overall as a printer

D. Jones, Amazon
18 November 2005
  • Summary: The photos are nice, but I am not able to print black only text if one color cartridge is out. We blow through the color cartridges very quickly and to replace them isn't horrible if it's one at a time, but to do a few at a time is pricey.

Obsolete printer.

Jim Hollingsworth, Amazon
18 November 2005
  • Summary: I knew that it was refurbished but not that it was obsolete. I found that out when I contacted HP tech support about a problem.

Dismal service

W. Schmidt, Amazon

  • Summary: Had to return replacement unit as it was clear it was dropped in shipping and would not feed paper. After many hours running tests and sitting on the phone they agreed to send a 2nd replacement.

TERRIBLE RELIABILITY

NJ, Amazon
17 November 2005
  • Summary: The 8250 does print very nice pictures. However, the ink takes a while to dry. All it's positives cannot overcome it's reliability. The auto paper sensor failed right after the warranty.
