Expensive to use. Save your money don't buy modern inkjets from HP

davidjf9559, Ebay
11 January 2014
  • Summary: Another awful inkjet that requires keeping all cartridges full, even when you print only black and white documents. My old HP 8049 is far superior.

Jim Hollingsworth, Amazon
26 August 2013
  • Summary: I knew that it was refurbished but not that it was obsolete. I found that out when I contacted HP tech support about a problem.

HP... not now... not ever

haff00, Ebay
3 June 2011
  • Summary: Worked very well for the first year after I purchased then started throwing various "ink and paper feed" codes. Do a google for problems with 8250. That should sway you. There's speculation HP embeds these codes so that they surface after a set number of ink refills, especially if you're are using remanufactured inks.

Great photos, but a pain for overall as a printer

D. Jones "gimmeAbreak", Amazon
9 September 2009
  • Summary: The photos are nice, but I am not able to print black only text if one color cartridge is out. We blow through the color cartridges very quickly and to replace them isn't horrible if it's one at a time, but to do a few at a time is pricey. This would be great as a dedicated photo printer, but has too many limitations for me. The LCD is really a dumb idea, as well as the built in card reader. I never use either.

NOT COMPATIBLE!

Tony Cruz "Tony", Amazon
1 August 2009
  • Summary: I purchased this printer a few years ago at Staples after being convinced by the sales person. The printer worked great. My family, friends and I were amazed of the quality. I was working with windows ME. Once my computer crashed, I purchased a new computer with windows "Vista." This is when I began to experience difficulty. It appears that this printer is not compatible with "Vista." The program appears to have conflicts with "Vista.

  • Summary: This product was great when I first had it, but after 2 years it had a paper jam and since then problem after problem has occurred. Now it only prints green, yellow and blue. which is worthless to me. Do not buy it, it is a wasted of money.

Worked great for 12 months, RIP

Paul G. McCravy, Amazon
16 October 2007
  • Summary: Then it started jamming and now it can't be repaired. With the relative light usage it received, I would have expected a longer life span. I gave it two stars as it was great while it lasted.

Printer won't print B&W without buying color ink

Average Consumer, Amazon
27 July 2007
  • Summary: ***Update 02-23-08: Tried to print on a #10 envelope to mail my rent. I've successfully printed on #10 envelopes with many different printers to date. The HP Photosmart 8250 is the only printer that will not print on #10 envelopes. It gives me an error that the "paper size is too small". It then directs me to a webpage and instructs me on how to fix the printer error.

Constant problems with the printer

Frida Kahlo "Unix4me", Amazon
22 March 2007
  • Summary: I have purchased this printer last year and it printed fine up until 1 month after purchase. The printer could not pick up the photo paper nor the regular paper. When I try to print something, it does not feed into the trays. I have changed out the ink in the printer for yellow, magenta, and cyan, still says that it is out of ink. Frustrated and after several driver reloads, the printer still says that it out of ink.
