Summary: Fast, very reliable work horse. Printed 44K pages in 4 years. Used approximately 3-4 XL cartridges each year for the mentioned volume. It was initially on usb and later on the network. We almost never had an issue with it. Until I accidentally damaged it. Unfortunately, HP doesn't repair printers, and parts sell for the price of a new printer. Now we are switching to the 7110 and hoping for the best.
Summary: The best wide format printer I have used. I like the individual ink tanks separate from the print head. The XL cartridges have enough ink volume for all my large print job needs. Took sometime to get it calibrated with Photoshop for photo output but after that I have used it exclusively for large format printing. Useful for anyone needing to do larger signage (13"x9") or anyone wanting to print their own photos or 12"x12" scrapbook pages.
Hewlett Packard K8600 Office Jet Pro Color Printer
K. Sumner, Amazon
12 October 2012
Summary: So far so good. Arrived quickly, easy to set up. Printing good quality and no issues with the paper feed. We had one, same model, in the past and it lasted us about 7 years which is why we purchased a new one. The paper feed sensor went bad on the old one. I would purchase again and recommend it.
Summary: We are a company who has several color inkjet printers. It gets to be such a hassle when you have to stock so many different ink cartridges, so we have tried to centralize on models that take the same ink cartridge. We had one of our printers die and we were looking high and low for a printer that would still take an 88 color cartridge. We found this one on Amazon.com and we are very happy with it.
Summary: I recently bought the K8600 and experienced the same Paper Out error message that a previous reviewer had reported when using a Mac computer. I found it necessary to change the application default paper type from Banner Letter to US Letter. The printer expects Banner Letter to be fed from the back of the printer, so even with a full tray of paper it would still report Out of Paper. Once I made this quick change from Banner to US Letter I've never had another problem.
Summary: If any graphic design artists need to print in CMYK and wide format, this is probably the best printer you can get in terms of cost and quality. The 88 ink is super cheap and it pumps out a LOT of pages. If you plan on doing a lot of printing but don't wanna pay as much as a laser jet printer, you should use a printer that uses the 88 ink. For 20.99 this cartridge can give you 1200 pages. What other cartridge on the market can do that for so cheap???
