Easy to set up with USB cable

Summary: Some of the other reviewers have given this printer a low rating because of the difficulty with the networking. I haven't tried that, so I cannot comment on that, however, I've used this printer (connected with a USB cable) with good success. The pros and cons are: Pros: 1) It sets right up out of the box and worked just fine. 2) The ink cartridges (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) are separate.
Summary: HP K8600DN Office Jet Pro Color Printer (11 x 17" Format) Duplexing (Automatic double-sided printing)is huge. Big time/cost savings. Better use of paper/environmental impact. Print quality is fine. Previously used HP's CP1700 printer for about 7 years before replacing w/this updated version. Like the large (volume) & separate ink cartridges... EZ to change-out. 90% of printing volume is 8.5" x 11.0", the rest is 11X17".
Summary: I judge the color print quality as very good, despite it's not a photo printer. I've printed photos and renderings, as well as presentations and never been disappointed. Mac drivers are nice, and do a good job based on color profiles for various media. Still works after almost a year. With my experience with some HP printers, it's a good sign.
Summary: With one month's experience with this printer, overall the K8600DN has been great. Easy set up, good quality images, quick. This is a printer with 8-1/2 x 14 and 11 x 17 capabilities and regrettably, at this time (according to my research), HP does not offer a second paper tray option or any printer with a two paper tray capability.
Summary: Printer networking system and drivers are very poor. Constantly drops off the network and the HP Support solution is to unplug the printer and plug it back in to see if that corrects the problem, not a very good solution.
Summary: The printer itself is fine. However, I bought the "extra" network version and it keeps turning itself off, and I have to unplug it and reset the network box before I can print. Spend a couple of hours on the phone with HP support and still no solution. Don't waste your money on the "upgrage".
Summary: Comments about HP Officejet Pro K8600DN Inkjet Printer: It was great to have two of these on the road - they were used for children's portraits printed as baseball cards. The quality is terrific, although they do seem to use a lot of ink.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, Easy To Use, Fast Print Time, Sharp Tones & Colors
Summary: Comments about HP Officejet Pro K8600DN Inkjet Printer: This compact cute little printer works amazing well under tight deadlines and a very high pressured office. We have put it through every test and it seems to have passed with flying colors. We were impressed how fast it worked and the quality of the output. Although we would have preferred a larger machine we are happy with the space that is saves and most of all happy with how well built it is.
Pros: Easy Setup, Easy To Use, Fast Print Time, Great Overall Quality
A perfect, affordable solution for proofing and small runs

Summary: When I realized I needed another printer for proofing and small-run jobs, I assembled what I thought to be a relatively simple lists of desired features. They included: CMYK inks, wide-format prints, duplexing, and network capability. I didn't think finding those qualities would be terribly difficult, but I was quickly proven wrong. In comes the OfficeJet Pro K8600DN. After months of looking, I settled on this little puppy, and I couldn't be happier with it.
Summary: This printer has just been given a very favorable comment on page 72 of the July 08 issue of PC World, so you can imagine my shock when I see only one star here on amazon. Then I read the review. It has nothing to do with the printer. The person is angry with amazon. This is not the place to register that gripe. HP did not do him ill nor did this printer. How many people have passed it by just seeing that one star without reading it?
