Richard James, Amazon
18 April 2014
  • Summary: This was used and came with a used black cartridge but required a lot of cleaning cycles. These all use ink and was a waste. However it shipped very fast and was otherwise in good condition.

I thought getting this printer for free was a great deal

John Malenkov "JS", Amazon
18 January 2012
  • Summary: OK, I know this printer went out of production three years ago, but if anyone is considering a refurbished unit I am hoping this will help.... Pros: Fairly quick. The build quality seems to be good. Sturdy unit. The web interface for the NIC is very well done and intuitive.

HP Fail

JulieGo, Amazon
3 December 2011
  • Summary: This printer takes about 10-15 minutes to warm up and align. Once you send pages to print, it clicks and clacks all over again and then you wait some more. Also, this printer is extremely loud.

great if you leave it on all of the time

Marc J. Barr "mjbarr", Amazon
22 August 2009
  • Summary: The printer is fine if it is left on all of the time. If not, then be prepared for a lengthy and really noisy start up sequence, lasting for minutes upon minutes and then a couple of misprinted pages until it begins to work.

lovegreatdeals, Amazon
24 March 2009
  • Summary: I just recently purchased this printer and I am skeptical about the so called "lowest ink cost". Yes, The actual ink cartridges are reasonable priced, but they don't really mention the two additional "printer head" cartridges that must be replaced along with the ink cartridges.

HP Redefined the word, Amazing

Brian M. Murphree "brconflict", Amazon
4 November 2008
  • Summary: If you know the tools that HP made back in the 70's, Hewlett-Packard was a sort of "PhD's Club". You basically had to have a Graduate Physics or Engineering degree, and employed by the likes of NASA to understand the technical expertise and solid reputation for some of the smartest tools on the...

HP K5400

Amazon Customer, Amazon
21 April 2008
  • Summary: I've had the HP K5400 for several months now. I am disappointed in two things, it seems to eat ink, I'm always running out of one color or another. I'm just a home uses so I don't do a lot of printing.

  • Summary: My experience with this printer can be summarized as "horrible". Within its warranty period, HP has replaced the entire unit twice (the first time with an equally but differently defective unit) and replaced the black+yellow print head, three times.

Asimports, Ciao

  • Excerpt: I bought a H5400 duplex and within 2 weeks the print head started to malfunction and readable black copies could only be made in 'Photo' mode. I waited nearly 2 more weeks for a replacement print head and within 2 days this also malfunctioned.
  • Pros: none
  • Cons: wont print more that 100 sheets per print head
