Summary: I was very upset when I discover this print only prints- it does not copy or scan. So I can't use these functions, which I thought every printer in this price range should do. It is difficult to use and if you lose your internet connection momentarily, you have to pull out the cables and reset the printer. Pain in the butt. I've had to do this several times. I haven't priced the refill cartridges, but if they are expensive I am just going to toss the printer.
... printer that I have owned and it is the worst printer I have ever used
3 weeks ago
Summary: This is my first HP printer that I have owned and it is the worst printer I have ever used. There are several reasons why: If 1 of the color ink cartridge runs out of ink, and wanted to print in black and white -- there is a button to override it however, several days ago I want to print several documents. The printer didn't recognize the command that I only wanted to print in Black and white, I had to press the folded paper icon button several times to override it.
Summary: Worst printer I've ever owned (and I've had many). Clogged print heads and weak printing after only a few months. Color printing is constantly streaked. WiFi is inconsistent -- sometimes the machine picks up the feed, sometimes I have to shut it off & turn it back on to print. Going in the garbage.
Excerpt: I have owned and used an HP (K550) OfficeJet Pro printer daily for 7 years. It served me well for all those years but finally succumbed to old age last week. I promptly went to my local Staples to purchase an HP replacement which I did, the OfficeJet Pro 8100. To my dismay, I had problems immediately. It did not pick up plain paper consistently and when I shifted to photo paper it did not pick it up at all.
Summary: If you want your printer to print envelopes, don’t even think about buying this printer. I’ve been trying for a long time to get it to print an envelope and it absolutely will not do it. Even people on forums haven’t been able to help. What the real kick in the shorts is, after spending a lot of money buying it, HP expects me to pay them (definitely not going to happen) to find out why my brand new printer won’t print envelopes!
Summary: it does not communicate to operate printing wirelessly with the most recent Mac OS...the software is non compatible...and it stops print jobs continuously with the replace paper warning, when i have at least 25 sheets of 8x10 HP fast drying print paper in the tray, when the print finally finishes only and edge of the whole photo is on the paper...and this paper is not cheap..i returned it and bought the photosmart 6520 and it had another set of problems.
be wary if the printer dies within the warranty period and not within the 30 days from purchase.

Summary: the printer died on day 30 and the printer may be a fine printer, but HP will, WILL not honor their 30 day free replacement if it is an hour past 30 days.. mine was 31 days (if I rounded up, but it was a weekend and no way to reach them, so as of the monday when I called they said the new replacement could not be sent). Instead they offered a used unit only..
