Summary: I loved the speed of this printer and the double-sided printing, all at a great price. BUT I ran out of JUST blue ink. Now the printer will not print AT ALL. A search of the web says "That's the way it is built. Too bad." So I ordered replacement cartridges / generic. They won't work!!
Pros: speed of printing double sided printing
Cons: must use hp cartridges must have all cartridges installed and not empty
Excerpt: I'm sorry to say that this printer isn't for me. I create many things and I never thought to even research whether or not it prints on card stock or great photo paper. It only prints on regular think paper. I'm so disappointed. I'm returning it today.
Excerpt: I have owned and used an HP (K550) OfficeJet Pro printer daily for 7 years. It served me well for all those years but finally succumbed to old age last week. I promptly went to my local Staples to purchase an HP replacement which I did, the OfficeJet Pro 8100.
Excerpt: I've always hooked up my own printer - this was the worst. Ink levels didn't register after the initial set-up. For over an hour I attempted to print a photo on HP photo paper - it never took the paper and I continuously got a message that there was no paper in the machine.
Summary: Ink: Biggest issue: HP totally misrepresents the ink that ships with the printer. On HP’s web site, where you go to get detailed information beyond that available on Amazon, they specify that it ships with standard retail ink cartridges.
Excerpt: This product is almost worthless. I wish I had not spent the money to buy it. I noticed at the register that there was not screen to lay documents on to make copies. The manager said, "you probably just use the same paper tray". No - it is not a copier.
