Summary: Would have been good to know that the software in this printer is outdated and won't update...I have to plug my macbook in via USB to print anything, the wireless printing function is virtually useless...
Summary: You get what you pay for. I needed a cheap printer without any extras. This printer fit the bill. I didn't particularly care for small individual CMYK cartridges, like those found on Epson printers. It was my fault for overlooking this feature when I purchased it. Since the printer head is not on the cartridge, but on the machine, a nozzle clog would be difficult to repair.
Summary: We own 2 of these printers for a small business that he uses on site. He prints a lot of pages per month. So he does everything in draft speed. It much faster and saves on ink. One machine is over a year old and the other is 2-3 months old. Here is the strange thing about them. I buy re-manufactured ink for the printers it's much cheaper! You save $$$. The older printer will take the re-manufactured ink but the new one will not.
Summary: I was looking for a small, lightweight printer. This one was recommended because it fit those qualities. The other thing, most important thing, was speed. This printer is, without a doubt, the slowest printer I have ever used. I thought the K5400 was slow because it takes a long time for it to get started but it spits out prints very fast. The H6100 was just s-l-o-w-! At the end of two hours, I had less than 100 pages printed. That is just unacceptable.
Excerpt: HP phone support was great. Their tech took control of my PC remotely and fixed the problem. It took them about 45 minutes but I was watching the ballgame the whole time! I'll upgrade my review to 3 stars.
Summary: The printer seems to produce a fine print; no problems there. The ink cartridges don't seem to have a secure plug-in nest, and when the printer is in use it sounds like it's trying to tear itself apart. It is extremely noisy. By comparison, my old printer, an HP Deskjet 960 was reasonably quiet.
Summary: I keep buying HP printers because of the quality printing they produce. But the Office jet 6100 is disappointing and needs some serious rethinking for ease of use. The Office jet 6000 was so much more convenient to use as well as much quieter too. That all of the paper must be removed from the paper tray so that the paper guides can be moved to print an envelope is time consuming and annoying.
