Summary: I keep buying HP printers because of the quality printing they produce. But the Office jet 6100 is disappointing and needs some serious rethinking for ease of use. The Office jet 6000 was so much more convenient to use as well as much quieter too. That all of the paper must be removed from the paper tray so that the paper guides can be moved to print an envelope is time consuming and annoying.
Excerpt: This is the new version of my previous HP printer. This one is so slow. I think that it has stopped and it will go again for a few seconds and stop again. The previous one would continously print and no halting stops. I just don't understand why this could be happening. It has a great picture once it is finished but sure is flustrating.
Excerpt: Modest printer that can't adequately deliver on its hype. Prints well and does it quickly - when it works. Setting it up on a wired network was harder than the 5 year old one it replaced. It often won't print, with an error message that it can't be found on the network. If it is turned off and then back on again, it works fine. Haven't bothered to set up the wireless feature, as it is accessible through my wireless router.
Excerpt: I bought this printer for occasional home office use. I don't usually have much to print, and wanted something affordable that would be there when I need it - and the Office Jet 6100 is just right for that purpose. It prints very quickly, and the quality is on the level with the price of the printer. The only problem is that it is SO NOISY.
Excerpt: Downloaded the program/driver to my daughters DELL laptop with no problem. HOWEVER, it would NOT download to my TOSHIBA laptop AT ALL. I spent hours. Finally the HP online tech guy got it...after an hour and a half! He was stumped as well. Not sure how he finally figured it out. Now that it's set up, it works fine. Love the wireless feature.
Excerpt: I bought this printer to replace and older model Lexmark. I was pleased with the price. When you turn the printer on, it seems to take a long time "getting ready" to print. It is also noisy. But when the print comes out it is nice and clear. After you print a couple copies, it seems to go a little quicker. I think that I would buy another HP, and that I would recommend it to a friend.
Excerpt: I bought this after my HP Photosmart of 8 years broke. I just wanted something simple so I tried this. On average it is an okay printer, I only use it for regular everyday printing and occasional photos. I do regret it and wish I bought an all-in-one for a few more dollars. This printer is very noisy and shakes the whole computer hutch every time it prints, and also makes a lot of noise after the printing is complete, takes a while for the cartridges to 'settle down'.
Excerpt: Bought as air printer. Will not work unless connected to a computer. Computer pushers paper forward in tray when finished faxing or printing. You really have to watch it. I've found it too hard to set up.
Pros: Compact Design
Cons: EXPENSIVE ink, Hard Setup, Hard To Use, Paper Moves Back
