Summary: This was a 'last chance' for HP with me. It was used in a low volume setting. Spent most of its time gurgling and chirping setting up to print. On only second set of cartridges when the print head failed.
Summary: Once you run out of one color, there's no printing. Want to print only in black only? HP has decided you are not allowed to do this. I own 2 hp monitors and the printer. I will not be buying another hp product, this is just an attempt to rip off your customers.
Summary: Everytime my wife starts to print, the 6100 grinds away doing something for up to 5 minutes. It's probably recharging from the ink cartridge, which would explain why it goes through ink so fast. The final insult is that if you're out of ink of any crazy color, even if that color is not required in the job you're trying to print, your only two choices are to replace that color or cancel the print job. That's just plain nasty and mean.
Summary: This printer has the most absurd start-up phase. Literally, FIVE minutes of clanking and banging before it spits out the page (I timed it). Then and additional 30 seconds of clanking and banging after it prints. So you can't turn it off to save energy, or you'll wait 5 minutes for your prints. Other buyers say it's using ink during this phase, which if so is a real fail by HP, but it's new and I don't use it often so I don't know yet. But this is ridiculous.
Summary: I purchased this printer because I had a job interview and needed a printer that day. Sadly, I didn't have time to do any research. If I had, I wouldn't have purchased this printer. Everything about the printer is set up to make you have to buy ink. First of all, even when you select "print black and white only" it still prints color. So, you quickly run out of color ink.
Summary: DO NOT PURCHASE!!! My last printer was an HP, it was cheap, lasted for almost 4 years with no problems... So... I decided to get this one hoping it would meet my expectations of the last one. As soon as I bought it, I had trouble. Was on the phone with HP for THREE HOURS trying to get the wireless to work, and apparently the wireless is completely broke. It won't pick up the internet even when the printer is directly plugged in with ethernet or USB.
Summary: So I purchased this printer a little over a year ago, I never really used it. The ink ran so I replaced it and now it doesn't print any other color than red. I tried new cartridges and the results was the same. I called tech support and in a nutshell they said since that the printer was out of warranty so I should buy a new one. Never bothered to troubleshoot. My answer was, for what? So I can buy a new one in a year again?
Summary: I bought this printer based on my previous experiences with HP products and although it was noisy and made sounds like an ailing cartoon train every time it started up and even though it would run through goodness knows what tests for 5-10 minutes before it would make the first print I still foolishly recommended HP printers to at least two people. I would now like to apologize to those people.
