Summary: After easy install on Windows 7 and flawless service for 18 months the duplex facility began to give trouble with duplex flipping up only. No adjustment worked. New driver didn't work. I spent more on technician work than the printer cost new and it still didn't work.
Summary: We bought this network printer to be used in a public computer club. Setup was easy and the printer works very well. However, HP has a very annoying policy - the "starter" toner cartridge contains VERY LITTLE toner (it lasted 2-weeks). If you purchase this printer (or any HP laser printer), be sure to also purchase toner. NOTE: Amazon sells terrific "re-manufactured" toner cartridges. The cartridges from Black Printing Supply for this printer are TERRIFIC.
Summary: I finally had to replace my HP LaserJet Series II and was looking for a network duplexing printer. I needed it right away and so picked one up at the local OfficeMax. I'm writing this review as I found the reviews on this product on Amazon helpful in making my decision to buy this product. I skipped USB as I needed to print from UNIX, Windows 98, and Windows XP SP3.
Summary: Came with clear, concise setup instructions. Product on the somewhat flimsy side (nostly black plastic) but not a negative for a low use single user. Liked the double-side printing feature. However, I needed to upgrade the unit to a 'dn', i.e. network, to get it when first ordered. Personally prefer fact the machine is wired, not wireless. Has printed perfectly every time, but 1st copy after initial logins is somewhat slow. Almost easy driver upload.
Summary: I am currently using an HP 3005d (no network connection) which is starting to have feeding problems occasionally. Thus, the HP 1606dn was an option. I wanted the ability to have both wired and wireless capability. So, I connected the device to my network, but did not use a USB cable. I attempted to download the latest driver from the HP website but the download link was invalid.
Summary: We have used the printer for around one year now. It is fast, printouts are great, duplexing is very useful, no paper jams so far, but the toner lasts about 1/2 as long as advertised. I have never seen a laser printer this hard on toner, and the cartridges are expensive relative to othe brands. We only do high volume printing one month of the year. For the high volume jobs we create PDF files and send them to our local printer. It is cheaper.
